Drugs to aid with public speaking?

In general or for public speaking?

All those guys are trapped in 2004, so they ain't going to answer.

I recall one time back in high school and we had a group presentation. My partners didn't make it to school, but I was on adderall and damned if I didn't do the report right there. One of my partners was responsible for the visual, the other for the speech. My teach said I don't have to go, but I told her that since my partners were deadbeats I might as well do it on my own. So, just from what I read a couple nights ago, I got up in front of the class, drew a diagram on the blackboard, and told them the story with no fears, no anxiety, no nothing. The thoughts just flowed from my head and I made eye contact with everyone (and believe it or not I was the only one the class listened to because of my demeanor). So Instead of failing I got a B and the rest got Ds. Pretty sweet.

Moral of the story: give adderall a chance.

Oh and I would like to add to the OP that all of the symptoms that you provided are what I would normally go through. What the adderall did was not only calm me down but also made me feel, well superior mentally and that takes the edge off with the whole sweating and getting worked up thing because you go up there with confidence and an overall sense-of-well-being, at least for me. YMMV.

Try to get a doctor to prescribe you a beta-blocker. It is used for high blood pressure but some doctors will prescribe it for stage fright. The drug does not get you high and it is not addicting. It works by blocking the flow of adrenaline in your body. A surge in adrenaline is what causes the nervous and shaky feelings. The drug will help you remain calm and relaxed and will prevent your hands from shaking. It will also prevent nervous sweating. I use to sing opera and did a lot of research on overcoming stage fright. This is a good way to do it. :)

Most of the time fear of public speaking can go hand and hand with anxiety, social anxiety, and even depression. I don't necessarily know your medical history but I can

Tell you with me... Stimulants would have an adverb reaction if I consumed them before a presentation. Thus meaning adderall, meth, coke, ginseng, even caffeine are out of the question.

The best bet would be benzodiazepines. I'd probably take a mg of xanax assuming you have no tolerance to benzos about 10 minutes before your speech, and you should be just fine

And if you are afraid of the possible benzodiazepine addiction potential there are some herbs such as valerian and st. john ??? i forget the name but those help reduce anxiety in some.

Best of Luck
I feel for you because I've always had a problem with public speaking/social anxiety.
Recently my social anxiety has lessened with age.

ALSO another non-addictive medication would be a beta blocker such as propanol. Sorry if its mispelled. My doc currently gave me 80mg propanol pills
