Drugs That Changed Your Life

MDMA- I have become much more accepting, and compassionate person, introduced me to a whole new subculture of people(ie rave scene) as well as electronic dance music. MDMA has made me into a better person.

Alcohol- Helps me socialize in social situations, decreases inhibition, so I can say its improved me in some ways.

LSD- Changed my perception of the world, and gave me a better view, hence made me a better person.

Weed- Helps make my world more humorous, and I'm generally a more laid back/ chill person while stoned.

Opiate- It helped kill anxiety/depression, but there was a twist. I became addicted, and I turned off worst.

Meth- I can't say meth has made me a better person.

LSD. The first time I did it, they were good clean Hunab Ku tabs back in '10. That shit just changed my life, my outlook, my perspective of EVERYTHING in so many ways. I always advocate abstinence from drugs (being a coke head, and speed freak, if any1 ever asks me about ANY drug I'll always tell them dont try it, not even once), but LSD is the one thing that I always say "I recommend everybody tries it at least once" that shit seriously changed my life forever.

I agree with every single word you said here

marijuana - i'm not going to blame it for depression, cause i'm accountable for my actions, but sometimes i wonder how my mental health/drug abuse would be today if i wasn't an everyday user during three of my college years...then again if i didn't use i probably would have partied and stuff and probably would have flunked out...currently use once a week, weak weed and small doses

opiates - love dat feeling, love it, fucking love it long time, but through all the years of loving it i've only used them frequently enough to have minor, minor, withdrawals twice, yet my tolerance is sky high....now if i had a cookie jar loaded up with oc 80s on top of my fridge and refilled once a month there's no doubt i'd be on a 300mg a day habit

mdpv - started smoking it, lost my sanity for a month and it ultimately cost me a career i was really happy with, then again how happy can you be if you make that decision to start smoking pee vee?

clonazepam - currently prescribed and officially addicted, hardly euphoric even in heroic doses.... why the fuck did i set my self up for this?

i've used lsd/mushrooms a good 15 times in my life, mostly flyin' solo and used strictly for therapy/mind expansion, but i can't say they've changed me in any way

Drugs that change you forever

So I've heard that some drugs can change you and your personality forever. I've heard as little as one use of MDMA can have this effect? Also, can these changes be positive? And are there any drugs that can supposedly change you from as little as just one use? If so which is know to have the strongest impact?

DMT or mushrooms are both a good bet. LSD while similar has this fucked up feeling of a cat crawling up your spine when it sets in and lets go so I wouldn't really recommend that. If you search for it on the web there was a study done that supported the mushroom experience as having very positive affects on people. But, unless you are going to stick to your new found ways, you will go back to your old ways sooner or later.
As for negative effects? Every drug known to man depending on your character.

So I've heard that some drugs can change you and your personality forever.

That's a highly broad statement, any drug can change you forever muchlike any experience can change you forever.

If you mean can a single use of MDMA inflict serious neurochemical changes that will not reverse? No.

I believe most psychedelics can change you positively towards spirituality from just one use. And if you have underlying mental health issues they can have a negative impact on you for a long time. I don't think other class of drugs have these kind of capabilities/hazards.

I can't tell which psychedelic has changed me, but to sum up all of my trips, psychedelics have surely changed me into a better person.

Drugs can definitely "change" you but in a more subtle way, at least that's how it's been for me. The only drug that has changed my perspective on things is LSD. Last year I had an amazing trip and reconnected with my love for music. I had given up my dream as a musician and was completely lost. That trip helped me see the right path in life. It's a trip I'll never forget either.

Any drug can change you, but more so over time. I know after I got back into opiates a few months ago my friends said they noticed a difference in me. Oh well, life is good.

I find Psychedelics can really change your mindset and out look on life. But, the thing about drugs changing you is you have to want to change after the trips over. No drug will instantly change you just from taking it. It's about how you apply the trip to your every day life after.
One of my favorite quotes by alexander shulgin

"Psychedelic drugs don't change you - they don't change you character - unless you want to be changed. They enable change; they can't impose it...”
-Alexander Shulgin

As others have stated, any drug can change you if you let it. Living inthealps nailed it with his quote.

Drugs (especially psychedelics) open up parts of the conscious mind so that you are able to percieve things you experience in a different manner. They "Enable change that you seek"

For example I use psychadelics every now and then in order to decontruct the linear, structured way of living that the western world demands. I am able to percieve the present with great instensity and lose complete sense of "structed time"( as we define it). I am allowed access to the receptive, intuitve and creative part of myself that I feel has helped change my perspective on reality over the years, and i have "allowed" my self to be changed for the good through these methods. The same goes for mediation and creating something.

Your consciousness is an exquisitely evolved personal construction, and you should try to select what you feel may better yourself. Remember we all have beauftifully unique paths of experience, so sometimes it's hard describe what change can really mean for someone. Much of what we experience is intangible.

If you use a certain drug as a "tool" then your on the right track, and it will more than likely change you for the better.

Peace

my EXTREME abuse of MDMA over a LONG period of time definately permenantly changed my behavior. Although I am much better now because I haven't rolled in almost 3 years, i still have a much worse memory and have to try alot harder at work and school to focus properly. Keep in mind i was taking pure MDMA as well as street pills which probably had speed and other adulterants.

It doesn't magically change your personality, but if you have a profound experience on a drug then it can change your outlook and personality permanently, just as any profound life-changing event or epiphany. I would particularly say psychedelics are prone to producing this effect in some people; personally I'd say first LSD and then DMT changed my personality forever, most notably the LSD on my first time.

In a small study Gulf War vets with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) had a single session with a therapist and took MDMA - the majority never experienced symptoms of PTSD ever again. Terminally ill patients are being treated with LSD and psilocybin and are coming to terms with the end of their lives, finding purpose, and losing their fear of death and morbid depression. These are, in my opinion, the best examples of drugs changing you forever in just one go.

MDPV - learned what panic is
Alcohol - learned not to drink and drive the hard way
LSD - learned its all good, the universe exists for no particular reason
A-PVP - learned what sleep deprived psychosis and addiction is like. Extreme appreciation for Life
Weed - not everyday ha

dob... I experienced things on it I am remembering everyday for 6 year now,I had what I believe a level 5 spiritual moment, sad things is I know no matter what I type nobody will come even remotely close to understand how great it was
