Drugs make You feel like crap eventually, Right?

Without a shadow of a doubt, yes I agree, there are also various studies that prove that the use of any drug which has effects on a person's neurotransmitters can lead to long term deregulation, as has been seen quite recently in the use of dexamphetamine, D2 transporters were seen to be diminished by up to 40% in comparison to normal. However, that particular study was using very high doses of the drug. Nonetheless, in the end, no matter what drug it is, if you're using it for a long period of time, especially in the developmental years of the brain you're in for a nasty surprise when you stop using. This is most likely the reason as to why I simply cannot stop using opiates anymore, when I stop I crave them so badly I abuse other drugs in the meantime while I wait until I get some more opiates.

However, there is good news! Even for fuck ups like me that have been using since they were 14! In around 1-2 years the receptors will eventually heal to a normal level, and in some cases even heal to beyond a normal level as the brain is tricked into thinking that whatever level of neurotransmitters the drug was producing, you were producing naturally quite literally. People who are 10 years sober of opiates with a long line of history with them for instance feel euphoric at the slightest tingle of any endorphin producing activity such as walking. I know this because I have met many recovering narcotic individuals at several different places (perhaps it's a conspiracy) that say that even the smallest things give them enormous amount of pleasure, and they don't understand why they were using drugs at all for that reason.

i really doubt the body produces extra endorphins after getting clean as pretty much all studies i have read say the opposite or just claim that natural levels are reached..besides, if what you say is true about feeling increased pleasure doing basic things it would be EASY to stay clean..i think that long-term addicts that have worked recovery just have to say something positive about being clean so they say that even though i doubt its true..i have also read accounts from people that have been clean for many years do admit that with all the perks of sobriety that it is downright DULL..i admire their honesty and sadly this will always be the problem i face..sobriety depends so much on the individual and what type of personality/temperament they have..what kind of situation their life is in atm..for instance guys like Matthew Perry and robert Downy Jr were very wealthy and they knew many people that could help their careers out if they got clean..lo and behold, look at them now, they are doing great, doing what they love..most addicts do not have this luxury, they dont have some fantastic life ahead of them, instead they have to work 60 hours a work just to make ends meet..

as for people saying they are glad they are addicts, i think they are being honest in that once you get clean off drugs and do the right thing, do a lot of self-discovery, finding out who you really are, it can bring forth a certain amount of happiness and self acceptance..whereas had they never developed a bad addiction and gone through therapy or other type, they would have never truly found out who they are..the long term addicts i know that have managed to stay clean all have their little phrases but they still admit, its a daily battle..
