Opioids drugs lowering libido?

Yes, they could be. Mentally, perhaps their making you not give enough of a shit to give sex a second thought.
 
there is no doubt that opiates and benzos could be lowering your sex drive..when i had an opiod habit my sex drive was very low..i had to take stims just to get the urge..i cant imagine how opiods and benzos would do...
 
Opiates can seriously kill your sex drive, yes.

Naturally occurring opiates (endorphins) diminish testosterone levels by inhibiting both hypothalamic gonadotrophin releasing hormone production and testicular testosterone synthesis. Heroin addicts treated with a single daily dose of methadone and nonaddicts receiving continuous intrathecal opioids quickly develop low luteinizing hormone and total testosterone levels. A similar pattern was sought in men consuming commonly prescribed oral opioids. Free testosterone (FT), total testosterone (TT), estradiol (E(2)), dihydrotestosterone (DHT), luteinizing hormone (LH), and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) were measured in 54 community-dwelling outpatient men consuming oral sustained-action dosage forms of opioids several times daily for control of nonmalignant pain. Hormone levels were related to the opioid consumed, dosage and dosage form, nonopioid medication use, and several personal characteristics and were compared with the hormone analyses of 27 similar men consuming no opioids. Hormone levels averaged much lower in opioid users than in control subjects in a dose-related pattern (P < .0001 for all comparisons). FT, TT, and E(2) levels were subnormal in 56%, 74%, and 74%, respectively, of opioid consumers. Forty-eight men (89%) exhibited subnormal levels of either FT or E(2). Either TT or E(2) level was subnormal in all 28 men consuming the equivalent of 100 mg of methadone daily and in 19 of 26 (73%) consuming smaller opioid doses. Eighty-seven percent (39 of 45) of opioid-ingesting men who reported normal erectile function before opioid use reported severe erectile dysfunction or diminished libido after beginning their opioid therapy. Commonly prescribed opioids in sustained-action dosage forms usually produce subnormal sex hormone levels, which may contribute to a diminished quality of life for many patients with painful chronic illness.

opiate use can cause decreased testosterone levels, and in turn a lower sex drive.

Yes, opiates do often decrease libidinal drive. Benzodiazepines don't seem to do so as much, and when they do it is likely because of the more general apathy and possible slugishness they can cause.
 
Holy fuck opiates KILLED my sex drive. LIterally. Disappeared. I couldn't give a shit about sex. In the beginning I had a honeymoon period where I'd fuck a lot of oxy..and it was really sweet. Now I just have no desire what so ever to fuck. I still do once in a while but I couldn't give a shit. It KILLED my sex drive (heroin/bupe). Fuckin threw that shit out the window then it got run over by an 18 wheeler and thrown in a puddle.
 
For sure! I've found it personally and spoken to many, many people with anecdotal evidence confirming.

Certain drugs lower one's labido on a pharmacological level while others do so psychologically. But I know my own experience that more drugs do this then not!

My theory (whether it's been proven or not) is that drugs put one into such a heightened sense of euphoria (mentally and/or physically) so basically you're already "up there" emotionally so why would you then seek something like sex, which generally does put one into a euphoric state.

This is my explanation for why guys aren't able to orgasm (if at at all get erect).

Ask any addict! Don't think it would matter what they were addicted tbh.

Opiate induced low libido/erectile dysfunction is so fucking annoying, probably the worst side effect besides addiction.If someone made an opioid that didn't affect sex or better yet has an aphrodisac effect they'd make billions.

Opiates do lower luteinizing hormone, which lowers testosterone, but I wonder if it's vagolytic effect might contribute to the sexual side effects. The vagus nerve might play a role in erections and orgasm, opioids/opiates block the vagus nerve.

If it's from lower testosterone/luteinizing hormone, maybe testosterone or d-aspartic acid could be used to counteract it. I've though about viagra to counter the erectile dysfunction, but it probably won't do shit about low libido/inability to reach orgasm.

I wonder, do females get the same sexual side effects that males do?

For me, hydrocodone seems to have the least effect on libido, followed by oxycodone. Methadone and, contrary to the post Oxide linked to, buprenorphine seem to have the worst effect on libido for me, too bad these also happen to be the only ones legal for maintenance therapy in the US.
 
No matter what drugs ive taken in my life, ive always been in the mood to have sex with my girl............actually, when on opiates, I get more horny when we are fooling around & having fun.

As for erectile problems, only coke has done that once to me & I never mixed stims with sex as much after that. never had a problem with opiates, in fact, its the opposite for me, opiates are awesome during sex.
 
i have been on subutex for about 5-6 Months now (4-6mg snorted daily + used numerous drugs in the past 6 years) iv been fine getting erect for most of my life (and the Subutex period) until these past 3 weeks or so. I am using my subutex + occasionally a low dose of a benzo daily, even throughout my Subutex period Ive always been a bit of a horny bastard, sometimes being up for having sex up to 5-6 times a day (sorry if that's too much detail) BUT now im worried, last time I was erect (I wasn't even fully erect) and actually came, was about 2-3 weeks ago..Now i simply cant get erect, and if I do its only for a few seconds :( im very worried about this and it saddens me, im also a bit of a hypochondriac (if that's how you spell it, I think TOO MUCH!) which doesn't help matters.

So PLEASE could someone help me? i would be very very greatful. Is this permanent damage? will my libido increase when I get clean? (I am doing a Detox in a few weeks)

Also here are a few factors which Im not sure contribute to my erectile dysfunction but I thought I would list them to help give a better analysis if possible!! (obviously if it continues I will go to the doctor) but at the moment im very worried and any info would be truly golden:

- I do go to the Gym and I do take supplements such as Tribulus, (Jack 3d very occasionally) Glutamine + a range of different vitamins (no roids if your wondering)

- Subutex 4-6mg nasal daily as said before

- I smoke between 5-12 Hand rolled cigarettes a day

- I drink occasionally

- I take benzos occasionally

Please Help!

Try having caffeine...not kidding...caffeine helps me get boners and i'm on 57mg of methadone daily....it must work hah. Mostly from NOS/Rockstar drinks. Don't abuse those though, i'm sure you knew that anyway.

You took too much man, you took too much....too much. The point is to take a little but enough to reach the sweet spot where you can still get it up but barely...like...requiring a blowjob effort from your female partner.

It's chemical engineering, very simple, the vasoconstriction prevents the blood from entering the head of the penis by squeezing on the entries so the point is to combine severe vasoconstriction with severe female stimulation in order to get the highest discharge blood pressure in the entry channels. Delta fucking P. ^_______^

If the penis requires 5 seconds to come to a full erection, the sex will be very rapid and very shitty. Totally not harm reduction, forget all about it.
 
OPiates may/prob due lower test, but they also kill ur sex drive in a more direct and acute fashion as well. For one, you are so content with the world, with your body relative to the world around you, sexual orgasim offers little reinforcement due to the doPamine already flooding your sysstem. Secondly, while getting erect may not be a challenge, acheiving orgasim often is, due to decresed sensation. Your body is numb to pain, but also to pleasure. I was often able to fuck for hours before orgasim, or just couldn't orgasim at all desppite being hard as a rock. And last is the general apathy and lethergy...its just too much damn work!

This is all proved by how extremely hightened ones sex drive is during w/d and while one is newly sober
 
now that im clean my girlfriend always says 15 minutes of sex is wayy better than an hour plus of semi erect sex any day. that 15 minutes doesnt include foreplay, i love eating her out before she's filled wityh cum. thats another thing she feels my ejaculations are more powerful than they were while i was using. i used to love the hour long fuck sessions when they went off without a hitch but more often or not id have to pull out and jack it off to get hard again, and not nearly as hard as i can get nowadays.
edit: im talking opiates. sex on coke is the bomb, i can last half an hour and we both get off a couple of times at least.. mmm :)
 
well yeah..

I find my general libido(thinking about sex with a girl during conversation) is greatly decreased to a normal level, but if i can get some, boy i'll beat it up.

I once busted a nut after 4mg dilaudid with NO PORN in about 1 minute. I have now idea how this happened, but i think the huge rush from the hydro just gave me this rock hard boner and i then thought "what if i jacked off on this drug" and after i jacked off i had to snort another line because i almost couldn't feel the dilaudid after that.

So it really depends on the person and the drug, but if i combined it with xanax i probably would be limp as a biscuit.
