Drugs at work

I reckon farming has gotta be up there as one of the most hard jobs, I reckon it's up there with being a fisherman in the North sea or working on a oil field.

lol, very posh lot of farmers on there.

I grew up in a farming community. Its mainly about trudging through mud and sileage in wellington boots and loosing the ends of your fingers and thumbs for one reason or other, and being very wary around bulls. They are killers, whether its accidental, or hes in a bad mood one day and if he wants you dead there's not much you can do about it. I may be being a bit over dramatic. But its very common for farmer + angry bull = dead farmer.

When i was 16 i went exploring the local forestry tracks on my 50cc motorbike. On my return journey there was a little 20 metre gated section of track, but a bull was standing right in the middle of it. I eventually plucked up the courage to go through, keeping the bike between me and the bull, when he started kicking his heels, that means hes ready to charge at you (for anyone who didnt know) i had to take any emergency exit off the track down a very steep and boggy bit of land. My bike got stuck in about 3 foot of mud, so i abandonded it and got to the other side of the fence through the bog. By the time Id done that the bastard bull had disappeared.

I think you did a lot better than I would've done! Can't imagine having to deal with beasts like that on a daily basis.

I still get nervous on the occasions I creep outside the safety of the M60 and run into so much as a sheep, let alone a bull.

My ex got really hurt by cows too, the idiot farmer told her to release them after the cows had been locked up all winter, I am sure you & MDB are aware of how mad the cows go, people say pigs might fly well cows come damn close to taking off.

Yeah quite a few people get spooked by sheep. They really are almost totally harmless though. In extremity say if you were to try to do something like take one of her lambs off her she might headbutt you or kick you at the very worst. Rams are a different matter alltogether of course.

Im really spooked by mice, ive had a mouse problem about 3 times in the 15 years ive been living in this house, they somehow make their way into my kitchen at night, and i can hear them rustling around things. They fuckin terrify me. They get into the old ladies house next door too, she goes at them with a sweeping brush, i can hear her swiping at them at knocking saucepans and stuff all over the place. Much braver than me. I just cowardly leave traps for them. They are usually too smart for that. Luckily the 'invasions' dont last long, just a few weeks, a guess when they stop it means that mouse has died, and it will be another few years before another one finds it way in. Once they find a way in, they keep coming back though, and have me on edge all evening.

Simon Maginn wrote a terrific psychological horror novel "sheep". That's the scariest book ive ever read. They made a pretty lame film based on the book which was a shame.

Popular wisdom would have it that it's 'never just one mouse', though all the infestations I've had the misfortune to witness have seemingly just been the one. Either that or the rest of the mice took the hint once they spotted their buddy had been caught in the act.

They're little bastards though, that's for sure. And anything going bump in the night will keep you on edge, I guess.

A few former partying acquaintances once solved their rodent problem by (accidentally) releasing their pet snake. It showed up a couple of months later behind the toilet; a picture of health.

Nonsense. I had quite a few friends at school who grew up on farms. Still know some of them. I have never once heard of anyone being killed by a bull. The only bull/cow related injuries I've ever seen have been burst knuckles from punching the thing in the face. I can safely say that none of the farmers I know are very wary of bulls. I'm not saying it never happens but to say it's "very common" is not true.

Done 250mg of DMT at work.... did a 10 hour day, worked 1 hour, 5 hours doing DMT... hour sleep, then 3 hours just talking :D

God DMT is interesting

Daily Torygraph said:
The figures are not clear, but maybe one person a year on average is killed by cattle in Britain, and a lot more are hurt by them.

And this being the Telegraph, they're keen to point out that it's mostly the foreign cows to blame! And the ramblers are of course exclusively 'British'. :D

Aggressive foreign cows attacking British ramblers

ok it might not be very common, but in my experience i heard plenty of tales from farmers sons and the wider community of bull related deaths. It maybe because they are rare events that they were talked about so much, and this gave me the impression that they were more common than they are.

But I certainly wouldnt wanna be anywhere near a bull when it starts kicking up dust with its hooves, would you ?

They are, potentially, dangerous animals. It's when farmers forget this that they are most at risk.

A local farmer in my village warned us to keep out of his field when his bull was near by, just incase, but he said we were welcome to walk through his fields at all other times.

Note to trainer:
Reports around the country each year in which longtime
farmers or their employees are attacked and killed by bulls make it critical that
you train your workers on the dangers of these animals, as well as on overall
cattle handling safety. Stress to your workers that no bull should ever be
considered safe, and that even the most gentle cow can inflict serious or fatal
injury – whether intentional or not.

My uncles a dairy farmer, and yeah its mostly shifting shit around and greasing up tiny udders daily to get the pump suction on, oh and feeding them and shit, its alright if you dont mind getting up at like 5am most days and working outside in the freezing, apart from a brief summer. When you down at there foot level (milking them) a hoof to the head/body is lethal, hes had many a broken shoulder.

Anyway, fucking COWS !! with there kind eyes but deadly intentions.

fucking cows how do they work!

I have around 12 cows in my field ( easy money / don't need to cut the grass )

And idk... iv'e never seen them do anything dangerous, no kicking no running at people, they might run close to you to see you, but then you walk towards them and they run off

Seem pretty harmless to me... horses are alot more fucking dangerous, ive seen videos and heard stories of horses... they seem to fuck people over, if you know what i mean
