Look, i don't want to come off as a complete dick, but have any of you ever performed Kareoke on K?...

...let me elaborate - i dislike the genres of pop and mainstream music (love A Perfect Circle, Deftones, NIN, Tool, Disturbed, Radiohead, blah blah blah)... but Kareoke on K is hilarious and FUN! Kylie Minogue tracks go off, and you have to do the gay little dances as well - steps are a breeze on K!

...i'm willing to give rap a go on the Ket, but you really have to try making a magnificent dick of yourself with Kareoke, ok?

Alternatively, you can just run around the streets pretending you're a horse - that works too...

music made for DXM

hey guys

im going to be tripping on DXM tonight and ive got some trancy music to hopefully induce me into full blown visuals.

i know there is some music made to be listened to on DMT like shpongle and other stuff but does anyone know of any dj's that cater to the DXM crowd? im looking for creative adventurous kind of music. im already going to be playing the prodigy, infected mushroom, crystal method, pendulum just some pretty trippy music.
can anyone give me some suggestions?

and for all those who think this should be in the music forum:
i want this to stay is PD because this is more about enhancing the drug expierience not so much the music even though im asking about the music. plus it will get more replies.

thanx everyone ;)

Personally its d&b for the comeup, hard trance/hard nrg for the peak and then into the psytrance for the plateau and finally I like to end it with something nice and happy for the come down, something vocal.

Definately some ambient/minimalist music like LTJ Bukem...something for your mind to dwell in. This is the type of music I like with disassociatives. Anything that relies on a heavy bass beat just doesn't sound as nice as normal because on higher doses of DXM the music just falls to the floor right out of the speakers and becomes very 2D. I suppose lower levels of DXM would work with trance or drum and bass.

Psychedelic trance works well on lower plateaus. For high doses, you need weirder, more minimalist music, like Psytekk (or whatever it's called -- minimalist trance -- go check out Ishkur's site). Dark music seems to work really well.

Yeah I should point out my choices are only suitable for 2nd plateau or low 3rd plateau, I am still searching for something that works well for a deep 3rd plateau experience - nothing really works for me, the last time I tried to choose appropriate music while actually tripping I was completely incapable of making a choice.

A curious aspect of the 3rd plateau for me is the music following my trip as opposed to the trip following the music.

the beatles white albums fun on higher doses. as far as electronica, find some goa, or older aphex twin. Some deep house is quite interesting. i personally enjoy some good tribal, or minimalist techno such as plastikman. experiment though, nothing too hard, ie hardhouse or hardcore.

music that goes perfect with heavy (900mg) dxm dose:
the 2cd compilation called "spiritual worlds" (it's some very trippy shamanic/ethnic trance and chill-out music, fully mystical stuff)

I used to really enjoy the Requiem for a Dream soundtrack (very dark, violin instrumentals mixed with a modern beat as well as other more ambient tracks)

Also, Aphex Twin selected ambient works is an awesome compilation that flows beautifully from song to song. Very good for setting up a soundworld to trip in.

My other favorites for dxm were Radiohead and Amon Tobin, so much diversity in those two it hard to go wrong. Have fun :)

thanx guys for all the replies

i heard shpongle's Divine Moments of Truth the other day for the first time and it blew me away like no other song ever has, i also liked behind closed eyes.
i downloaded some hallucenogen, bad company and infected mushroom.

im going to go dream about me really eating some X T C (the good ones too) lol

"Mechanical Animals" by Marilyn Manson.

Seriously. I haven't stopped listening to that album for over a month, the last time I did a [massive] dose of DXM.

At least play 'dissociative' and 'coma white,' if not 'fundamentally loathsome' and 'great big white world.'

The band supposedly did a ton of drugs to find inspiration for the album, and it shows.

wish i'd bought some more this weekend, instead of just beer. Oh well, there's still time.

Suggest good opiate music.

Anything relaxing/happy or just plain good opiate music... suggestions please! :)

John Frusciante's first two solo albums, Niandra Lades and Usually Just a T-Shirt and Smile from the Streets You Hold and great heroin influenced albums. Just be warned, some of this material is really out there.
I like listening to The Black Crowes on opiates a lot...their album Southern Harmony and Musical Companion is great.
For relaxing music, Jim Croce is pretty good.
