it depends on the event - if its a rave or just going out clubbing, yea thats for the drugs......not my sorta music
if its a rock concert thats definitely about the music

Bit of both. Drugs enhance the music which enhances the drugs which enhances the music which..... It's a beautiful, endless recursion of awesomeness!

Depends, of course:
when on 'chill' drugs like benzos and painkillers i love to listen to music that goes with my mood; music that's happy, if you get what i'm saying

when i'm tripping i usually listen to techno

Sometimes I try to think whether or not music could be considered a drug (not literally of course). But music is just so fucking essential

At parties I'd go for music and drugs, but if a day may come that I'd have to choose whether to live without music or without drugs, I'd choose to live without the drugs. Music is a 'drug' which no substance can replicate

i like reggae/rock/rap/classical when puffin dank, n' drum n' bass trippin on psychedelics

smokin/drinkin it's rap 90% of the time. and rap=anything from houston otherwise i'll bitch. put on some fuckin kanye west and we've got problems.

can't fucking stand hangin out w/ peeps who insist on blasting hardcore/punkrock all night long at a party or some shit like that. love the music, just now throwed at 2am.

Hank williams JR - Country boy can survive.

Metallica- Unforgiven.....or The memory remains.

Nirvana - Smells like teen spirit

Pink Floyd - Comfortably numb ( Goes better with opiates )

Bender - Angel Dust

System of a Down - Ariels

All time favorite tracks to listen to when high or on psychedellics. But if you're looking for a more general then i'd haveto go with Hard rock.

With alcohol or cocaine it's anything that sounds even remotely good and i'm gunna get into it.

When im Stoned.. I love Reggae, Ragga, DARK NASTY DnB / Jungle

on opiates - Ween, Gratefull dead, darkstar orchestra

I fucking love to listen to Sublime when im drunk, or del the funky homosaphien, Atmosphere, Brother ali, Eyedea and abilities

or jack johnson... <3

Hip hop, acid jazz, and various permutations of rock. On speed I need some good hard fast punk music, something like Riot 99. On coke I need some really good hip hop, something along the lines of Jedi Mind Tricks or a good beat by someone like RJD2 or by the group Nostalgia 77. Weed requires acid jazz or perhaps some chill rock, or perhaps some oldies like Sublime. Tripping means acid jazz too, or beats. Heroin means anything, cause anything feels good on heroin ;)...

I go for the music. If I'm drugged up, it's hard to truly remember how awesome the show was. All you say is "man, I sure was high that night" rather than "man, did you hear that dude's guitar riff in the 3rd song?" In other words, I'd smoke a bowl after the concert to reflect on it. Music can still play in your head after you've been to a cool concert, so why not just smoke it up and listen to the soundtrack in your brain?

Classical Music

What's the general opinion on classical music while tripping? Anybody had experience with this? Can you reccomend anything?

I enjoy Rimsky-Korsakov's Scheherazade on drugs in general, though admittedly it is best suited for opiates IMO.

The usually-ignored prelude from Spontini's La Vestale is very dramatic. Same goes to Tchaikovsky's lesser-known things (such as his 4th symphony). The way this one sounds makes me wonder if he was high or at least drunk when he wrote it!

I believe Ann Shulgin describes a mystical experience of her's listening to Bach's Toccata and Fugue while on one psychedelic or another (I forgot which). In fact now that I mentioned it, PiHKAL is filled with the Shulgins' opinions on different classical pieces on different psychedelics.
