I have seen a few people wondering about various xtc laws like what amount of pillz makes you a supplier instead of a user and I have read up on this and other things incase anyone is interested.
If you have 3 grams or 15 pills (or more) of ecstasy you are seen as a supplier and you are charged as thus unless u can prove they were all for personal use (not likely).
If you have 5g / 25 pills you get charged for indictable trafficking.
If you have 0.5Kg you are a commercial trafficker.
If you have 2Kg or more you are a large commercial trafficker (and possibly my best friend).
Out of the people charged for "possesion and use" of xtc/speed/lsd in NSW:
67% get a fine.
6.7% go to jail/detention
2.4% do community service
18.7% get a good behaviour bond
5.2% do not get convicted
So chances are if u are smart you'll get off with a slap on the wrist.
If you plan to carry a large amount, hiding smaller amounts in different places might not help because if your whole house/car is searched, the total amount found is considered as the amount you have in possession.
Also, if you buy a gram of speed, and mix it with 3 grams of glucose for 'flavour', the law says that you now have 4 grams of speed in your possesion and this goes with mixing all other drugs.
If you are a 2nd rate dealer and you decide to fling of bullshit (eg. caffeine pills) as ecstasy; be warned. If you are caught, you WILL be charged as dealing ecstasy because it only matters what you were selling the pills as. In the same way, if you buy a bullshit pill that you 'thought' was ecstasy you are breaking the law.
If you don't take ecstasy (what are you doing here then??) and your friends take it around you, do not fret because you DO NOT have a legal obligation to report them to the police. Only "serious offences" like drug supply, manufacture etc. have to be reported.
FINALLY - NEVER ADMIT that you have taken drugs because the only sure way for police to charge you while you are rolling is to obtain your admission AND get a blood test. If you get busted with E's, never admit what it is you bought - it'll take them upto a month to test it and it will give you extra time and a better chance of getting out of the charge.
My tip is only tell the cops you enjoy smoking pot and dropping E's when you are straight cause you cant get busted that way. If this post helps only 1 person escape from the slimy hypocritical hands of the law then I will sleep well tonight

I got this info from a book called "Rough Deal - your guide to drug laws" written by David Heilpern and Steve Bolt. Published by redfern legal Centre.
Since ecstasy is relatively new it's pretty hard to find books exactly on that issue and I doubt the government cares about whether people know the exact laws.
I would be surprised if there was a big difference (or any at all) between various states in Australia.
An excellent source for drug laws and latest MDMA research are Uni libraries.

Ok ... good question.
What I do know is that it is 3 grams of xtc or 3 grams of speed or 3 grams of heroin that makes you a "supplier".
Now, I assume that since ecstasy is famous for coming in tablet form, they might allow for the fact that the boinding agent takes up a fair amount (in weight) of the tablet. This would be logical as it would allow every tablet to conatin 200mgs of MDMA (very generous indeed). The approach I will always take is never to crush my pills and hopefully that will take care of it.....
HOWEVER I stress that the book I have states you are a supplier if you have "3 grams or 15 tabs" and Im not sure if the "or" bit means the cops get to choose.

I shall go with the path of logic and assume that since 15 tabs will ALWAYS be heavier than 3 grams, they will let you off with under 15 pills (otherwise they would not put that into the book).
 
Yeah dude, a gram is an awfull lot in drug terms. Yours must be the size of borocca's. My mitzy's are about 0.2, 0.3g

i don't think i've come across a pill that's weighed over 500mg yet. and caps are usually between 200-300mg...
oh and a word of advice for anyone taking more than 15 or so pills into a party - there is only one place to put pills and that is in your undies. forget the socks, forget anyone else but your undies in a plastic bag (for hygiene).
 
Hey dangermouse - I put my pills in my undies on Boxing Day - and then wondered into the toilets - well I hadn't placed them under my balls as I usually do and they fell in the toilet

Luckily they were in a bag and the toilet was well flushed before I got in there. Needless to say I had to shake everyones hand that night

If the police ever want to search you they can do it anywhere. They can also search everywhere except your undies (as dangermouse pointed out) and bra. To do this they have to take you into the station, so this is the only place you should keep it.
Simply being at a rave is reason enough to get searched so be careful. This actually happened to me and 2 other friends last year when a car pulled up next to us and the 2 beefy dopes announced they were part of the drug squad etc....
Anyway the only person who got thoroughly searched was the 3rd guy (who was clean) and this gave us 2 the time to ditch/hide the rest of our shit - that's how I learnt my lesson.
Also if you aren't at a party be careful if you have anything on you because another one of my mates was in a group and one of them was swearing on the phone. Cops rocked up, told them to stop swearing and then decided to search him. They found 15 trips in his cigarette packet and then took the whole group to the station and strip searched them all

Police can search everywhere except your underwear? Hmm, One of my friends told me once he was driving through marrickville pretty late one night, and there were two cops searching some guy. the guy was completely naked, and the police had gloves on checking wherever (nah,i really doubt cavity search though!)
so yeeh, that sorta freaked me out, might be a turn on for some people though!

Something to add on the bunk pills front.
If you get caught make sure that you say you don't know what they are. If they ask and you say Ecstasy, then if they are caffeine then you will be charged as supplying Ecstasy.
If you say you don't know what they are, they then will have to test them. During this time you can cross your fingers and hope you where sold bunk...
Its how it goes in the UK. As long as you don't admit what they are you should be ok.

I'll add some 1st hand info that I've heard of, which is interesting all the same:
In the case of police searches, they can search in your underware but only female cops can search females, so if you have girls with you and you get stopped by 2 guys then let the girls stash the stuff. If they decide to take everyone to the station for a search (unlikely), then you'll have to try and dump it.
In the case of pill contents, they have to analyze the pills and prosecute on the actual chem. in the pills. I know this 'cos a friend got busted at the airport with 90 pills and 3 pounds of hydro. The pills eventually tested mostly speed - only time you'd want to have shit pills

They must be more leanient on speed that MDMA or something, 'cos he got off on 2 years suspended sentance.
Even though I would in no way consider myself a dd, I have at times carried around 15-20 pills and keep forgetting what sort of shit I could get into if I was caught. Though I think Elstak is right, first time you'd prob. get off if you have a good lawyer, unless you get a judge who wants to prove a point...

Sorry if this has been dealt with before, but does anyone know what telltale signs police look for when trying to identify users? Is there any 'textbook' raver they try and spot, or is it a case of trying to catch people in the act of dropping?
Any help appreciated! Hope thats not residual paranoia showing through...
 
evilduck, i think you've missed the point... cops very seldom bust ravers at random, i'd go so far as to say the only time a cop is going to bust you is if he was the one who sold you the pill...
the raver is not the enemy of the cop, do you see cops shaking down every junkie piece of shit on russell street? nope, and thoses losers practically have "heroin user/seller" tatooed on their foreheads...
do you really think a cop is going to pull you over coz you are wearing fluffy pants, carrying a glowstick and cant stop smiling?
ecstacy busts are done on a much higher level, street police will not go out of the way to search and/or arrest you because quite frankly they dont need the hassle either, just more paperwork.
the problem comes when you are carrying and get busted for something else, like speeding or unroadworthy car... thats when they might want to have a look in your backpocket/glove compartment, coz they've busted you anyway, and a drug possesion charge will just get them more merit points...

For those of you who are interested in finding out about the drug laws (or any other law for that matter) in Australia, do a search at http://www.austlii.edu.au/
This has ALL Australian legislation and transcripts of all court cases.
Use the advanced search and only search the legislation otherwise your results will be packed full of court cases intead of the laws.
For your information most of Australia's drug laws come in the form of signed and ratified (crazy) US drug laws... we can't even make up our own...
Sorry I don't have the time to dig up the relevant info on x for you at the moment... just do a search for MDMA and you'll find what you are looking for

not totally to the topic but anyway:
this would have been discussed but i wanted to propose my idea. we have heard all the for/against arguments, we know the whole bad pill problem and the lack of education wrt taking pills, i.e: only causes of MDMA deaths.
additionally the whole underground thing, i hate how something with so many positive effects has to be associated with the criminal world.
and certainly its "not like any other drug argument" is valid: has none of the social consequences of H, speed, coke, alcohol etc.
My proposal: it is only dreaming but its a shame it cannot be put up for debate:
MDMA as a pure drug is made available at pharmacies:
how: u must apply for a special INDIVIDUAL license. to get this u undergo a few initial tests.
1) physical test: must be in very good health, have a good diet etc
2) must be mentally stable, no people prone to depression, on other drugs etc
3) most importantly: pass an extensive education course, what is serotonin, y drink water, y u can't go to the toilet much while on it, y u can't have it once a week, etc etc etc.
U r then allowed to purchase MDMA (120-150mg) OTC. it could be packaged with 5-HTP, antioxidants, other supplements and an SSRI to minimise any damage. and finally u can only exercise this priveledge say once every 3/4 weeks, this would need to be researched and determined.
it is a novel idea and obviously a dream but i'd love someone to find all the things wrong with it, at least compared to all the things wrong with the current situation.
