Drug War Doing Much More Harm Than Good

Not sure what forum to put this in so it might be in the wrong place.

This is something I know is discussed a lot but but it's really obvious when you look at the different regions on pillreports especially when looking at Australia vs. Netherlands. I'm not sure what the drug laws and enforcement differences are between the two, but it seems obvious to me it is MUCH harder for chemists to get the necessary ingredients for mdma (safrole) in Australia.

While the netherlands are consistently getting REALLY good and clean pills, Australia is flooded with DXM, RCs, and piperzines and there is virtually no mdxx. These are MUCH more dangerous but legal to get. Plus you don't have to have a chemistry background to mix a powder you bought off-line with a binder and then press it.

In the Netherlands the large majority of their pill have a high dose of clean mdma. I believe this is because 1. the countries security is looser and they probably don't investigate and try to shut down labs as much, and 2. the netherlands has testing centers. I know you can buy testing kits elsewhere but I think the centers are much more effective because of the convenience (think about it, you would rather go to Walmart down the street to buy something then order it online) and some people might be paranoid about ordering a drug testing kit online that can be traced to them. The centers are also much more accurate than kits.

The drug war (at least with ecstasy) is really just causing more dangerous chemicals to be used rather than mdma which is much safer.

i totaly agree with you there mate although this place is probaly not the right place for it try ADD next time i think the main reason australias pill trade is FUCKED at the moment is becouse we have a lot of "kiddies" who are happy to pop any pill aslong as it gives some kind of effect......If our government wised up and started educating rather than cram bull shit down our throte about MDMA being made in toilets or some shit (im sure you've seen the posters around)......end rant lol could talk about this shit all day :D

Im lucky enough to have never had piperzine or other bad pills but I think you're right about the "kiddies." I feel like though even if they got some good effects off of them they would eventually figure "hey, having a terrible headache and not being able to sleep or eat for 12 hours after isn't worth it"

I think most of it though comes from people that are desperate to find some mdma so they still buy all this shit. And I'm not from Australia but if I was I would boycott that shit until people starting making some mdma but that doesnt seem to be how most people feel. Maybe the war against ecstasy would be a little more effective if there weren't so many dumb asses who support the pipe pushers.

What the gov really needs to do is find the people making bad pills because that would cause a LOT more harm reduction then finding the mdma manufacturers

its not hard to see that the war on drugs or rather the prohibition of drugs is what causes 95% of the harms now associated with nearly all drug (ab)use
if it wasnt for prohibition then drugs would not do anywhere near as much harm to the user and most importantly society, the same applies with prostitution, all thats happening is massive industries are being left to criminal gangs to run and left unregulated and most importantly uncontrolled, we know have any drugs available to any person at any age, which can also contain pretty much any substance thats known to man instead of the actual drug its sold as along with being sold at stupidly high prices that just make billions of £/$ for terroist and criminal organisations and cause destruction, death and crime in our societies.
its really very ironic that the laws the government have enforced upon us in order to protect us from certain wot are imo minimal harms have only done the exact opposite and caused much more harm to society and the individual than the drugs alone could ever cause if they were regulated and controlled like any other licit market.
its strange how the gov knows this is happening but refuse to do anything about it, instead actual drug (ab)use kills not that many people anually but the war on drugs and harms/dangers that has bought has killed many tens/hundreds of thousands of otherwise innocent people.
prostitution being illegal has now led to a slave trade that is larger than when slavery was actually legal, this is fucked up as now we have thousand possibly millions of often very young girls being abducted and trafficked for sex instead of getting willing girls that are protected from harms in a controlled environment, holland has the right kinda idea on this lil taboo.
the only reason i can see that the govs of the world insist on a ever more failing policy is corruption, somewhere somehow they gov must make more money from keeping prohibition enforced. chances are the top drug barons have infiltrated the gov and or pay certain politicians lots of cash to keep these policies in place.
it wouldnt have been hard for the mafia back when alcohol was legalised to have made a back up plan for their next industry which would have been the drugs trade, to ensure that there are people in power that will keep the drugs trade illegal and ensure it stays with them. of course the last paragraph is all speculation and i have no evidence wot so ever to support it but imo its always a possible scenario and is seeming more an more likely the more politicians fail to recognise the issues with drugs are now centred around the fact that they are illegal in the first place. its even worse when they think one thing then change their mind either before or after they are in power, most politicians seem to want change with prohibition either before their in power or once they are out of it and see the harms involved in the current policy being enacted, but they change their mind as soon as they get power an decide that prohibition is the only option and must continue, this is very strange behaviour form people that are supposed to have our best interests/health at heart, although we know this is not true and all they really care about is financial gain.

Fuck good on ya mate thats a great post!!! wont be holding my breath til "street" drugs become legal I think the whole system fucking sucks i have seen alot more damage done by alcohol the stats are there the government knows it alcohol kills more people in one year than illigal drugs,scuide and car crash's put together (refrence:ciggie packets )if MDMA was sold insted of piss there would be ALOT less violence on the streets if any...........end 2nd rant...
