Drug Users vs Society

My favorite argument to bring to someone who is "anti-drug" is the fact that heroin is safer than alcohol. I explain that if someone we able to have a constant, clean supply of heroin they would be way better off than the alcoholic. Heroin itself does not damage any organ like alcohol does. Also heroin can have profound effects on someone who is depressed. I personally hate the idea that i can't goto my local 7-11 and by some heroin with my slurpee, this is one of the reasons i don't do it anymore. At this point in my life the fact that i would have to pay more to keep a habit than i make is negative. When i did have the money to get high and i was not worrying about the struggle to not be sick everyday, i managed to make deans list at a tier 1 university. The problem with most heroin addicts is that it is impossible for most to afford a constant supply which is why they goto crime. If heroin was sold by the government at reasonable prices the amount of crime related to the pursuit of getting high on dope would be much lower.

no cuz when you keep doing heroin.. all the time, you can never get enough. I've seen it before, and seriously, yeah alcohol might not be as bad physically and mentally, but heroin destroys you as a person when you do it all the time. It ruins relationships, and all you ever want to do is be high. Heroin destroys your soul, and is very addictive.

Pure diacetylmorphine(like most opiates)is relatively benign, but street heroin is different. The cuts found in street h can be very toxic to certain organs. So yes, while ethanol does put a heavy tax on the liver, obviously a bottle of booze isn't going to be cut with something else and you know what you're getting.

^another reason why heroin should be legal.

plus MOST cuts in heroin are fairly safe and non-toxic.

to the poster above you delta, heroin does not destroy your soul, wtf kinda DARE bullshit is that. if you use any drug all the time, it can do damage to brain and body depending on drug, INCLUDING alcohol, so you post doesn't make sense. there is nothing about heroin itself that makes it where you wanna do it everyday all day. people choose to use it that way. just like people choose to do that with alcohol or cocaine or whatever.

IMO all drugs should be lega, drugs are far from harmless but in a society that claims to be free we have to respect individuals choice to put what they want in their bodies. Also I think its just plain obvious prohibition causes more problems to be associated with drug use and does not solve ANY of the problems that would exist whether they are legal or not.
