6. Do you have a history of abusing stimulants specifically to increase productivity? Herbal energy caps or legal drugs qualify.

7. Do you suffer from anxiety or sleep issues? Any history of using benzos or opiates or sleeping pills?

8. How many hours do you study a week? How many hours do you work? Would you describe your lifestyle as hectic or lax or in between?

9. Would you say you are more of a creative or linguistic type or more of a mathematical analytical type, or some of both? Are you a musician, artist or writer? Are you a techie in your spare time?

10. Are you religious/spiritual, or atheist/agnostic? If spiritual, are your beliefs more conventional or multi-spiritual/esoteric?

11. Briefly offer an opinion about your relationship to authority figure's.

1) M. S.

2) 17 or so. Used rarely until 20-21.

3) Chemical Engineering

4) In decending order Cannabinoids, Psychedelics, stimulants or empathogens (kinda tied)

5) Yes. Yes. No (unless "weed tripping" counts here, ie, psychedelic-like effects from cannabinoids).

6) Yes (with great care and moderation)

7) Yes, difficulty sleeping. I recently discovered benzos, and use them occasionally.

8) 40 hrs a week of work (in practice, more like 35). Not hectic - work's a chore, but i'm not killing myself for work by any means.

9) Math/tech. I can see 5 computers from my bed, and have a bunch more at home.

10) Atheist.

11) I detest working with buerocracy or situations where i have to work with someone who i feel is in a position of official authority. My life has suffered (missed deadlines due to avoiding) as a result. As for pigs and related law enforcement, I hate them, and avoid all engagement with them, but if i was forced to, i think i'd pull off a conversation pretty well - the cops aren't your friends, but never ever dis a cop.

1. 1 semester left until Bachelor of Science degree.

2. 17, 21 now.

3. Finishing up a double major in Chemical Engineering and Chemistry. I'd like to go back to school to study Pharmacy and/or Pharmacology in ~2 years.

4. Stimulants & empathogens.

5. Yes, no, yes if MDMA counts as a hallucinogen.

6. I started using piracetam a couple months ago. I don't think that qualifies as abuse. Some stimulant use to increase productivity and focus.

7. If narcolepsy counts, yes. That's the only sleep issue I have.

8. Study, used to be 20-30+, now my schedule let up a bit. Work: 8-10 hrs a week, but less lately (finals and all that).

9. Analytical type. I can also draw fairly well and dabble in learning web design.

10. Agnostic, but currently not very interested in exploring spirituality.

11. Not very keen on authority figures. Being introverted, I also have a harder time approaching bosses/professors with, well, anything really. Haven't got in trouble with police over anything I've done wrong, so I can't say how I would behave or feel in such a situation.

1. Currently in junior year of university.

2. Smoked marijuana at 15. Currently 23.

3. Econ/finance at present. May tack on an engineering degree. Maybe. In the real world I would like to be someone with a lot of options available to them. I do have an ideal career which is unrelated to my academic interests, but the nature of this website prohibits me from elaborating much on that.

4. Kratom is my DOC, about 1-2x a week. That's pretty much it nowadays.

5. Have used plenty of psychedelics. They played a major role in my development, both in positive and negative ways; the latter due to legal and family ramifications from disclosing my use. Other drugs have certainly had an impact on my development but not to the same depth or extent.

6. I have used stimulants to increase my productivity. I would not say I ever abused them for this purpose though. The whole concept of "abusing drugs" is a misnomer anyway.

7. Infrequent but at times plentiful anxiety, enough that it interferes with my life.

8. I'd say around 10-15 hours of study. When I'm working and not in school, 40-60hrs per week on avg. In school and working ±10 hrs a week.

9. More creative and linguistic, but a mix of both. I like to write but don't engage in it consistently enough to consider myself a writer. I like outdoorsy stuff.

10. "I don't believe anything, but I have many suspicions." (Robert A. Wilson)

11. Having been through the justice system multiple times I avoid significant risks that could lead to any similar encounters. I respect that there is a need and purpose for authority, but feel that it greatly oversteps its bounds and is abused for self-serving purposes.

"10. "I don't believe anything, but I have many suspicions." (Robert A. Wilson)"

Thats a great quote. I think that is a good quote that perhaps separates one kind of agnostic from the other....Someone who actually thinks about possibilities vs a technical atheist just trying to be philosophically consistent or technically accurate.

This is interesting, but it doesn't belong under Drug Studies. Although we are currently hosting a Bluelight-run survey, it's a hosted survey collecting anonymous data that can be analysed for a research purpose ... different to a poll like this one.

Would it not be better suited to Drug Culture? I'll move it there for now but feel free to discuss.

Thats just fine.....I guess studies is for official peer reviewed studies? Not amateur 4am and high random thoughts poll? lol. ok.

Ill answer myself in a bit.

1. What is your highest educational background? Are you still in school?
I'm in high school, and I'm just about to complete the 10th grade.

1. What is your highest educational background? Are you still in school?

Highest completed is a bachelors degree in nutrition with an AA in Health Sciences.

2. At what age did you use your first illicit drug including marijuana? What age are you now?

13. My mom is the first person I ever got stoned with. I turned her down until I was around 13 or so.

3. What is your field of study? Your major and minor? What other fields have you played with or studied for? What job are you hoping to get? What would you like to be in an ideal world?

I want to do research on medicinal plants. I need to go a little farther in chemistry first. I was studying acupuncture and herbalism but I had to take some time off due to health problems of my own. I would like to finish and then get some more chemistry education.

4. What class of drugs do you use most often? Narcotics, psychedelics, stimulants, ect?

Daily opiates for chronic pain. Near daily use of Nootropics 'provigil'. In the past I used marijuana most often or maybe various herbal products like aphrodisiac stimulants. I love psychedelics though.

5. Regardless of which drugs you more often use, do you have a history of psychedelic use? Would you say that your experiences have played an important role in the development of some of your ideas and personal growth? Do you feel the same about other drugs?

Yes. Psychedelics have played an essential role in my development as a person. It has 'unlocked' a lot for me. It has changed me for the better...and unlike what some people report, the stuff I wrote while tripping is actually pretty deep in my opinion.

6. Do you have a history of abusing stimulants specifically to increase productivity? Herbal energy caps or legal drugs qualify.

Yes. I got carried away with Ephedra/caffeine blends. Like really bad. I abused caffeine, trying to get an MDMA high off coffee....probably killed my stomach. For a short while I was abusing amphetamines.

7. Do you suffer from anxiety or sleep issues? Any history of using benzos or opiates or sleeping pills?

Yes. Chronic insomnia, but the opiates have really helped....unless I take provigil too late at night. I was using ativan, but with the morphine I dont seem to need it.

8. How many hours do you study a week? How many hours do you work? Would you describe your lifestyle as hectic or lax or in between?

I am constantly studying, though not always what I should be. I pursue knowledge about subjects that interest me. I also tend to be a workaholic when I am working for myself, but for some reason I am less motivated to give it my all when I am working for the man for shit wages....imagine that.

9. Would you say you are more of a creative or linguistic type or more of a mathematical analytical type, or some of both? Are you a musician, artist or writer? Are you a techie in your spare time?

I dont think my reasoning skills are by any means weak, though I have some odd moments with the insomnia and chronic pain w/ medication.

I think my thought process more closely resembles a creative and linguistic mind. I dont sit around and tinker with electronics as much as I read and write. Even in chemistry I spend more time day dreaming about possibilities than I spend just focusing and doing what I am told. I do know how to get shit done though, but only when its on my own schedule. I would like to write books.

10. Are you religious/spiritual, or atheist/agnostic? If spiritual, are your beliefs more conventional or multi-spiritual/esoteric?

I dont know anything. Even my own experience can be questioned. There is no objective truth when everything we assume to be objective can only be known through the subjective senses and interpretation of a purely subjective mind.....That doesnt mean I believe that we 'create our own reality'. I think thats bullshit, unless you only mean we create how we interpret reality. I just mean that we dont really 'know' the full extent of whats out there....so I dont pretend to have it all figured out, but I do have some ideas that do inspire and play a role in my worldview that are relevant to who I am and what I do.

11. Briefly offer an opinion about your relationship to authority figure's.

The only valid authority is natural authority. When I enter the dojo I choose to respect my instructor because in terms of martial arts training he IS superior to me. That is natural authority. People we respect because of their knowledge and wisdom, who we choose to follow.

I see a difference between leaders and rulers. Leaders are people who inspire others. People may follow them or place them in responsible positions....but its voluntary. I think in our Republic we play lip service to the idea of 'the consent of the governed' but its a bunch of BS.....when GWB had a 28% approval rating why wasnt he out on his ass if we actually believe in the consent of the governed? No, people should be able to walk away from their leaders at any time and replace them as needed.....fuck stability if stability means we wont change course when we are headed for disaster. The masses could be capable of self governance if we didnt constantly try to dumb them down or if our education system focused on empowering people with critical thinking more than repetitive busy work. We ARE capable of dynamic participatory democracy. We dont need an elite or a ruling party to dictate our desires to us.

Respect is something that has to be earned. I dont respect a title but I may respect a person.

I did experiment with psychedelics, heaviest period being when I was 19-21. Psychedelics showed me a good time but I do not think that they have improved my quality of life. Thats interesting. How would you say Klonopin has helped you grow as a person?

Thats interesting. How would you say Klonopin has helped you grow as a person?

a lot of the stuff that i would have been too nervous to do before, i was able to do while on it, so now that i can do it on the medication; i know i can do it without the medication, i also learned a lot of communication skills ya know?

Thats just fine.....I guess studies is for official peer reviewed studies? Not amateur 4am and high random thoughts poll? lol. ok.

Drug Studies is set up to promote peer-reviewed studies, generally conducted by researchers affiliated with a university or research organisation. There are some exceptions though.

We have forum guidelines - http://www.bluelight.ru/vb/showthread.php?t=345977 - but they are a bit wordy! And there is a little bit of grey area as to what are considered research studies and what are not... we've been debating whether to include student surveys, for example, when students are doing 'research' for an assignment.

The question is - what distinguishes an interesting poll like this one, where people answer the questions from their own experience in the thread, from a standard discussion thread? Really just that there is a series of questions instead of one or two.

Anyway, I'm offtopic... continue on drugs/education :)

1. What is your highest educational background? Are you still in school?
Left after high school, completed gcse's

2. At what age did you use your first illicit drug including marijuana? What age are you now?
Started young, weed at 11 md at 12 and most other stuff soon after

3. What is your field of study? Your major and minor? What other fields have you played with or studied for? What job are you hoping to get? What would you like to be in an ideal world?
Ideal world? i'd love to work in psychology somehow, looking for any job at the moment though. May go to college next year if nothing job wise turns up, idea doesn't appeal to me though, much prefer work as moneys so tight

4. What class of drugs do you use most often? Narcotics, psychedelics, stimulants, ect?
Stims mainly, depends though i go through periods of benzo abuse, slight opi abuse ect. Most commonly stims though

5. Regardless of which drugs you more often use, do you have a history of psychedelic use? Would you say that your experiences have played an important role in the development of some of your ideas and personal growth? Do you feel the same about other drugs?
I've used acid a few times, a bad trip young put me off though, would love to get back into psychedelics for mind expansion rather than to 'trip baaaals duude' and have toyed with 2cx's recently but only in lowish doses, i'm waiting until my mindsets ideal. Mdma definitely has had the biggest impact on me as a person, at a young age it taught me empathy for others, and got me off a bad path i was heading down

6. Do you have a history of abusing stimulants specifically to increase productivity? Herbal energy caps or legal drugs qualify.
Not really, speed & rit once or twice to help with schoolwork years back but it never worked out, got sidetracked too easily and ended up spending hours doing other things.

7. Do you suffer from anxiety or sleep issues? Any history of using benzos or opiates or sleeping pills?
I went through a period (after smoking weed heavily for some years) of horrible anxiety, firstly triggered by the weed but spread to everyday life. Took about a year and a half to fully get over it, with the help of cbt. used benzos towards the end of my anxiety issues when i'd got panic attacks under control, but still had horrible general anxiety, partially to help with the anxiety but mainly for stim comedowns iirc. ended up with quite a heavy valium addiction but after stopping cold turkey i never got rebound anxiety on the wd's (horrible dp & dr though) and havnt been anxious since, whuch im thankful for. Used opiates, but not for anxiety

8. How many hours do you study a week? How many hours do you work? Would you describe your lifestyle as hectic or lax or in between?
None, none. I'm way too laid back for my own good.

9. Would you say you are more of a creative or linguistic type or more of a mathematical analytical type, or some of both? Are you a musician, artist or writer? Are you a techie in your spare time?
Slightly creative, good at 'DIY' and love my music, play a few instruments all on an amateur level but a huge music fan.

10. Are you religious/spiritual, or atheist/agnostic? If spiritual, are your beliefs more conventional or multi-spiritual/esoteric?
Atheist

11. Briefly offer an opinion about your relationship to authority figure's.
Never liked authority, never got on with my parents until i moved out (then back in ha), never liked school. Can jump through hoops now when necessary, would have no problem doing admin work or whatever job. Lost the 'fuck the system' attitude i used to have, used to be a bit of an anarchist aswel :).

Yeah, set a better example :|
jk

I totally figured that out, though I have to be honest.....I have no intention of reading the rule novels for each forum, unless I was to become a moderator which seems doubtful at this time. Its a bit much.....but what do you expect when the people who write them are using psychedelics and stims?

1. What is your highest educational background? Are you still in school?

I dropped out of high school in 11th grade. Finished later on the internet, now a proud holder of my high school diploma!!!

2. At what age did you use your first illicit drug including marijuana? What age are you now?

I am 23 now. Started drinking alcohol around 14-15, discovered opiates at around the same time. Got in to marijuana a little later on, around 17.

3. What is your field of study? Your major and minor? What other fields have you played with or studied for? What job are you hoping to get? What would you like to be in an ideal world?

None.

4. What class of drugs do you use most often? Narcotics, psychedelics, stimulants, ect?

Been an opiate addict since 16 years old. Currently on Suboxone. Clean from all other drugs currently. Will probably use alcohol and marijuana in the future.

5. Regardless of which drugs you more often use, do you have a history of psychedelic use? Would you say that your experiences have played an important role in the development of some of your ideas and personal growth? Do you feel the same about other drugs?

Have used psychedelics a few times. Too much for me to handle. Can't really say whether the experiences had any impact in my life. I am open to trying them again in the distant future.

6. Do you have a history of abusing stimulants specifically to increase productivity? Herbal energy caps or legal drugs qualify.

Used to love amphetamines and similar drugs. Not too much anymore, although a few months ago I had a pretty good time on Adderal mixed with copious amounts of alcohol. Currently enjoy a bit of caffeine to help out with my third shift job, and rarely may take an ephedrine pill.

7. Do you suffer from anxiety or sleep issues? Any history of using benzos or opiates or sleeping pills?

I have a pretty constant anxiety issue, with pretty frequent panic attacks. I am opiate dependent. I can sleep pretty good on Suboxone, would like a little better sleep quality. I have used benzos in the past, more to help with opiate withdrawal or as a sleep aid, not so much as a recreational drug.

8. How many hours do you study a week? How many hours do you work? Would you describe your lifestyle as hectic or lax or in between?

I work 40 to 50 hours a week, third shift. I live a pretty relaxed life. I would like it to be a little more hectic in fact!

9. Would you say you are more of a creative or linguistic type or more of a mathematical analytical type, or some of both? Are you a musician, artist or writer? Are you a techie in your spare time?

I'm a pretty creative guy, been making music since I was a little kid. Been playing guitar since I was a little kid. Spend most of my free time making music. I wouldn't describe myself so much as a techie in that I'm very interested in gadgets and that sort of thing, but I used to screw around with old computers, know some C/C++, Pascal, BASIC. definitely know my way around a computer. Would like to get back in to programming a bit more but I don't want to go through all the cout << "hello world"; shit again

10. Are you religious/spiritual, or atheist/agnostic? If spiritual, are your beliefs more conventional or multi-spiritual/esoteric?

Not religious. I don't really consider myself an atheist. Not a subject I really care about. I guess my religion is science.

11. Briefly offer an opinion about your relationship to authority figure's.

"Without a gun and a badge what do you got? A sucka in a uniform waitin' to get shot"-NWA ;) I'm not really a "fuck the filthy pigs" type person actually. I understand the need for law enforcement, and I understand it's not the cops, it's the laws. I'm not gonna scream "I smell bacon!!!!" out my car windows at a cops or something, but I guess you could say I generally don't get along with authoritarian type figures. I'm kind of a smart ass, and don't really appreciate someone being a dick because they have some sort of "power" or "authority". That kind of shit is just totally indicative of a small pecker.

1. What is your highest educational background? Are you still in school?
High School graduate. Going back to school for atleast a BA or BS.

2. At what age did you use your first illicit drug including marijuana? What age are you now?

12 with marijuana. Im 21.

3. What is your field of study? Your major and minor? What other fields have you played with or studied for? What job are you hoping to get? What would you like to be in an ideal world?

Not Applicable.

4. What class of drugs do you use most often? Narcotics, psychedelics, stimulants, ect?

I like all drugs but I favor psychedelics and use marijuana most often.

5. Regardless of which drugs you more often use, do you have a history of psychedelic use? Would you say that your experiences have played an important role in the development of some of your ideas and personal growth? Do you feel the same about other drugs?

Absolutely. I had no interest whatsoever in continuing my education until I started using psychedelics. I cant say other drugs have played a role in my own personal growth.

6. Do you have a history of abusing stimulants specifically to increase productivity? Herbal energy caps or legal drugs qualify.
Yes

7. Do you suffer from anxiety or sleep issues? Any history of using benzos or opiates or sleeping pills?

All of the above.

8. How many hours do you study a week? How many hours do you work? Would you describe your lifestyle as hectic or lax or in between?
I'm not currently in school, and I work as often as Im allowed.

9. Would you say you are more of a creative or linguistic type or more of a mathematical analytical type, or some of both? Are you a musician, artist or writer? Are you a techie in your spare time?

I would consider myself a musician, artist AND writer. I'm not much of a techie.

10. Are you religious/spiritual, or atheist/agnostic? If spiritual, are your beliefs more conventional or multi-spiritual/esoteric?

I believe in biology. I would consider myself an athiest or atleast a VERY skeptical agnostic.

11. Briefly offer an opinion about your relationship to authority figure's.

Not a fan. I believe others can have their own opinions but whenever someone tries to enforce theirs on me, there will be problems.
