I realize that drug test questions are somewhat frowned upon in this group. How about cross-posting? Actually I would like the thread moved to Law after I receive some replies, because some of what I would like to know involves legal issues. I did not post in Law because I that group's user base is significantly lower than Other Drugs...Sorry for the long BS prelude, but you will understand shortly.
Some background. This hospital, a very big one, is a Catholic institution, and they will not perform some procedures on religous grounds. For instance abortions, duh, hysterectomies (sic?), breast augmentations. So, this nurse is required to take a urinalysis because someone stole a bunch of meds on his shift. BTW, he has never failed one. He is called into the office, and upon delivering the news that he tested negative the hospital administration states that the test was administered incorrectly because the individual performing the test did not enter the stall and actually WATCH HIM URINATE WHILE FACING the test administrator, and they request that he retake the test. Basically, he told them to fuck off.
So I am curious how the Catholic Church's stands on this violation of privacy. I know little about religion in general, and nothing really about Catholicism in particular, so I was wondering what some Catholics on the board think about this degredation from a purely religious standpoint.
In terms of the law, a little research turned up a document stating that observation is allowed if there is reason to belive the subject may switch or adulterate the sample, or if the test is a followup after a previous positive result.
