Drug snobs... "my DOC is so much better than your DOC"

Drug snobs... "my DOC is so superior to other drugs"

First of by DOC I am referring to drug of choice. I have noticed that a lot of drug users think that their favorite drug is so much better than some other drug.

For example, I have this friend who will do anything but opiates. She won't touch them even if they're pharmaceutical. She'll take random ecstasy pills from strangers at concerts, takes amphetamine everyday and has for 2.5 years, and will do any non-opiate drug any day of the week. She's even snorted flexeril in an attempt to get high. I made a comment about a few friends of mine doing oxy and she said "Oh, I don't hang out with people who do that," like it was fucking child abuse or something. She knows I'm on OST and I said "well you hang out with me" and she said, "well, yeah but you're not like that." Like what!?! She's an addict too!

So, what are your opinions on people being snobby about drugs?

so many double standards with people....
i remember when i never did heroin or coke, but i never looked down on people who did them, it was their choice...
people who abuse psychadelics telling me that other drugs are bad pisses me off... they seem to think the drug itself is bad, and dont realize that its how you use it.... tripping every weekend is just as bad as doing coke or heroin every weekend in my opinion, but the effrects are felt on the mind more than the body....
 
I remember a friend of mine who once said,

"Do all the ecstasy, heroin, coke, and speed you want to... Just stay away from the pot. That shit makes you crazy"

It made no sense at the time, and it makes no sense to me now.

Someone once told me: "I've done everything but ecstasy, man, I ain't touchin' that shit." Huh.

There's certain shit I won't do, but that doesn't mean I'm gonna look down on the people who do choose to do it, at least in the regard of that. If they're assholes, thieves, or otherwise nuisances, then I've got a problem, but I ain't gonna hold anyone's choice of drug against them, because that would be hypocritical as hell.
 
yeah, i know people like that....
its all about how you use the drug
people who abuse LSD or psychadelics are no better than someone who abuses opiates or coke....
but poeplle who "abuse" pot are ok with me!! lol
 
Bleh. It's not so much snobbery as anything. I've done my share of everything and for a few monthes now I've just been avoiding people that sell or use coke like the plague. I had a prescription for clonazepam which is my favorite way to come down without using opiates and went through it a few weeks early. No job. Then I thought, fuck coke and amphetamines, because I can't stand being broke and not getting sleep and not eating and passing out randomly throughout the day feeling like I'm about to die. You really do feel so much healthier when you smoke bud, trip, drink, smoke cigs, take pills (opiates/benzos/rolls/anything besides amphetamines), ect. instead of using coke.

I have my shair of drug snobbery feelings arise every once and a while. When people sit around and fuck around with powder, sprinkling some on the top of a cig, putting it on bud to smoke, doing a bunch of numbies, i'll get fucking livid. Break out the fucking straws, the mirror and the razor. I don't want to feel like I just went to the fucking dentist and got novacaine, I want to fucking get a drip and get geeked and smoke Newports and listen to Pantera until I need to use again. The snobbery that gets me going though, is the people that swear by smoking marijuana everyday, all day and say how great it is, blah blah blah. I don't want marijuana to be legalized for medicinal use. If I ever have cancer I will be cutting off a doctors head when I get a prescription for marijuana instead of a few bottles of OxyContin.
 
Purity snobs are probably worse than drug snobs.

^^^I been known to say that before but I get pissed when somebody who smoked some fuckin gummy crap and tylenol PM rolled up in a ball with a tiny pinch of heroin in it and be like "It aint like yours is any better" Like yea actually it is. They got the best weed in cali and canada and the west coast. and we get the best dope. thas just how it is. individual experiences gonna vary of course and theres always somebody who got the fire shit in every crowd, the hookup tha tmost ppl dont get. the exception. but in general do u feel me there. I would never hesitate to admit it if somebodys shit was better than what i was gettin. but if somebody try and act like they are the shit, and they just aint the shit, then they aint the shit, and ima tell em bout it. ;)
 
drug snobs piss me off almost as much as people who have an opinion of drugs without knowing a thing about them.
 
A lot of people dislike speed simply because of the coulture involved in the hardcore speedfreak lifestyle.

Of course not every (meth)amphetamine user is like this but it's amazing how many stereotypical tweekers there are.

This makes me really angry too. If you're going to have an opinion about a drug, it better be based on fact or personal experience.

I've heard so many people say "No way am I taking LSD! It gets stuck in your spinal fluid." Half the time I don't even argue with them anymore.

I once had a friend hand me an Ibuprofen 800. I was like "what is this?" and she said "well I know you like painkillers, you can get high off this. I did." I thanked her for her thoughtfulness and took the pill. Some things are better left unsaid :\ .

Im the same way when I hear completely ignorant statements such as this. Its just not worth it, people are SOOOO sure they have their facts straight, they won't ever admit that they are wrong as fuck. 8o %) :\ :\ :\
 
When stupid shit like that comes up I usually just nonchalantly say "actually, thats just a myth/urban legend" and leave it at that. It seems to work alright for getting people to stop rattling off bullshit.

HOW CAN SOMEONE COMPLETLEY BASH OPIATES AND THEN GO OFF AND SNORT FLEXERIL? thats ridiculos i can't tell the difference between someone who's taken a couple vicodin or a couple cyclones, the effects are quite similar to me, hydrocondone is just much more euphoric. But pertaining to the overall topic i know what you mean. I HATE:X :X all those skinny ass coked out bitches who always go on about how skinny they are and how bad weed is and how awesome coke is and then do a couple lines and fuck a varsity football player. I mean i've never done it but i do plan on doing it some day and i'm sure coke is awesome but SHUT THE FUCK UP.
 
^^someone who does meth certainly doesn't believe in alarmist propaganda, i mean i suppose a family member may have OD'd or had there life ruined by opiates, but IMO methedrine is a much worse drug than almost all opiates besides H (possibly the easiest drug to OD on besides GHB) so I guess this could apply to someone but they seem to have some very skewed morals.

However when speaking about people who chose not to do certain classes of drugs in general i guess this works obviously not all people who do a drug do all drugs, theres millions of people out there who smoke weed and don't do anything else of course. But someone who is immersed in the drug culture and is correctly educated about drugs (not a so called "drug expert" as in the eyes of the media but say someone who has been through the vaults of erowid) has no rational reason to bash any class of drugs besides the level of risk associated with that drug. And if you know the risk level of most drugs you can't rationall abuse on class and bash another. For example someone who had a bad/difficult trip on LSD has no right to say LSD is the devil, cause for every person like that there is hundred who will say the oppisite, they need to accept that due to something to do with themselves caused the bad experience and except that other people are different and not go spewing personall opinions based something that is the minority. I am a very accepting person and will accept most peoples opinions but i hate it if someone has a certain opinion based on a personal prejudice, this may just be me though simply cause I have had to deal with SO many people who still believe what they learned in D.A.R.E. I'm okay with that (drug propaganda based biases) but anything else gets under my skin cause people can act so irrational.

wow that was long...feel free to contradict me like i said i am normally very accepting of peoples opinions.

I totally respect that. I myself refuse to take stimulants. I personally hate cocaine with a passion because I don't get euphoric, it's a waste of money (to me) and I hate staying up all night. Sometimes I catch myself hating on cocaine because it ruined a friend's life but I don't judge people for doing it. A lot of my friends (and boyfriend) love to do cocaine when they party and I don't like them any less. A lot of my friends take Adderall recreationally and I don't like them any less because they do a drug I don't do. Stimulants exacerbate my anxiety.

It was the disdain in my friend's voice when she said I don't hang out with people who do that. Like instead of hating the drug (which I can understand) she looked down on the people who did them.

Yeah, she's kind of retarded. She's very reckless with her drug taking and had the audacity to look down on people who always know what drug and what dose they're taking, simply because they're opiates.
 
Everyone has to work hard to feel good about themselves and that usually involves a lot of storytelling. This world is so corrupt!
