Drug-related tattoos

I have an Alex Grey tattoo... one of those flaming eyes... you may have seen them on the cover of Tool's 10,000 days album..

I've definitely considered getting a hookah smoking caterpillar on my shoulder or something... at one point I actually had a heroin design made up... I'll try to link to it.

I was going to get that on my back... pretty large... spanning across the shoulder blades and everything. Decided against it... so if anyone wants to use that image, feel free. :)

^ That isn't my tattoo... it's some members from a while back.... I happened to have save the image... what a creep-ass. lol

I had this idea a few years ago when our group of friends finally had access to lsd in our town and it was like some of the best lsd that has ever come around that i have had anyways ive tripped like 30 plus times atleast thats ware i quit counting numbers prolly closer to 90 or 100 times acually but i told a freind the idea and that i wanted to get the tattoo and where on my iner forarm i wanted it and he got it like a few days later same place on his arm and everything now that i look back and i barley do lsd now at all im glad he got it saved me from having to explain that all the time dogged that bullet

Wow that is one long ass run on sentence.

I've been throwing around the idea of getting LSDs chemical structure on myself as well.. very interesting that other trippers have the idea as well. Unfortunately, other structures have more intricate patterns, including adrenalin!

so no dont get that tattoo when meth makes ya all gross from years of addiction all yer teeth falll out yer not gona wanna see that tat all the time man

DUDE. Learn how to use periods and commas. Reading that post made me feel like I was flying on meth.

get a huge 2d mol of (2S)-N-methyl-1-phenyl-propan-2-amine with the iupac in a circle around it. its a cute and simple mol one fused aromatic ring, and a few radicals. should be cheap to get, as its basically just lines. and no one well recognize it unless they're into drugs or chemistry. cooler then some local slang term imo.

I'd want to get a tattoo of a drug that would be real deep meaning to me. Like one that would really change my life. Like a really special shroom/lsd or ecstasy trip. Like everytime you see it you think of how great that time and day was.
I don't think I'd ever want to get a drug of something like meth... it's so.. what's the word, disgusting? I guess. Like, even thought it may make you feel really good, I don't think much of anything else would come out of that. Afterwards you just want more and it just doesn't seem like something I'd want to be reminded of.
I think you should get a tattoo of a day that meant a lot to you. And get a symbol of something that happened on that day or whatever. I think then when you look at it you will be happy and when other people ask you can tell them about how awesome that day was and how it changed your life or whatever.

Edit: oh yeah, and I think you should get it somewhere where you can show people, but still cover it. Like get it on your shoulder blade, or like on your chest or your leg or something. Or hip.

Thats why I wouldn't get a drug but something like serotonin or dopamine, because they apply to every aspect of life, including the drugs.

Hidden weed leaf may be an exception.

I've thought about getting a sliced opium poppy pod on my back directly behind my heart, but I know if I stop using and have a family someday I'm not gonna want that shit.

Something like this

That's a key point. Imagine having to explain why you have a tattoo of drugs or booze to your 3 year old daughter someday... Or, even worse, imagine having to see that image EVERY DAY FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE, even after you stop using (if you do stop using ever in your life). You will forever be reminded of taking that drug, even if you someday struggled with addiction to it and eventually stop. The tattoo will make it impossible to put that part of your life behind you and to completely move on. You will be stuck forever with that physical trigger, and it will make it easier to relapse. And even if you do stop using the drug/drink and don't ever relapse, you will never be allowed to look in the mirror and see yourself anew. Moving on, in the truest sense, will be impossible. Disowned, I think you might have made a mistake. Did these things not occur to you before you got the tattoo?

I have plans with my artist when I can travel for christmas to get a drug related tattoo. On my left shin im getting a vampire's skull, half steam-punk style mechanical, with the mephedrone(4-methylmethcathinone) molecule sitting beneath the fangs. The entire thing will be outlined by the 8 star of chaos. This tat means a lot to me for a lot of reasons(private) and I'm using it as a memory/lesson so I doubt I'll regret it.

kzorro, my friend did it for me on my bicep, so i literally have beer muscle haha

I would say it would be a good tattoo (actually meaningful, unlike 99% of the shit that's done on a whim) so long as you have been clean for a long time, are committed to staying sober, and do not get cravings when looking at it. It seems like for an active addict (i've read some of your stuff on TDS), getting a reminder like that will make quitting even harder. It's just another cue that will make you crave the drug.

It seems like it has had a big place in your life, but I think its really important to make sure that it's not a temporary drug romanticism that you'll lose, or that it'll drag you back in.

My advice would be if you plan on getting it before quitting drugs, maybe draw it in with sharpie or something like that and keep it up for a week or so. That might help you decide whether you'd be fine with it long-term.

^read this post carefully, thewhiteowl. you yourself talked about wanting to get clean from meph and needing help. you said outright that you have "truly fucked up with meph". and now you want to permanently scar your body with an image of meph? sounds like a horrible idea which you will obviously regret, probably very shortly getting having it done... good luck. just make sure you are 100% certain you want to do this to yourself.
