I've always found this saying to be retarded. say I'm a coke dealer. does that mean if I want to get lit, I should go out and find another coke dealer and buy shit from him?

I always interpreted "dont get high on your own supply" as: if you're selling [drug], don't do the drug because chances are you're going to go overboard and do all your drugs. Or, as an alternate interpretation: if you're going to do the drugs your selling, set aside your own personal from what your selling.
