Drug of the year 2005/2006

I think H is definitely back in a big way. But, as far as drug of the decade, if we're going to compare with E in the nineties, and coke in the eighties, pharmaceutical opiates are probably it. The thing is that those drugs, E and coke were definitely considered cool, and are somewhat expensive so it is almost a type of status symbol. Pharms go along with that, they have become more available and used by younger and younger kids, and generally are more expensive(at least than H). the path of opiates doesn't usually start with dope, but does often end there.

Regarding meth, in my opinion meth is more like crack was in the 80s, and PCP in the 90s. They were commonly used, widely available, and cheap, but didn't neccessarily have the 'cool,' or status symbol aspects associated with coke, or E. In the context you are talking about, the allure of the drug is a big consideration. The drug that defines a decade may not be the most used, most sought after, or most widely available, but the one with the most fascination, the drugs the white kids in the suburbs keep hearing about.

Media attention is a big factor as well. I know that meth gets a lot of media attetion, but the media meth gets is a lot different than the type of media pharmaceuticals receive. In stories about meth, you see poor white people with no teeth who live in trailer parks, have not teeth left, and just blew off their right arm and leg maning a meth lab in a cooler in the middle of the woods. How many celebrities have gone to rehab for meth? How may rappers have 'meth' tattooed on their necks? How many covers of Time or Newsweek had big, sexy, glossy photos of meth on the cover? The way the media portrays the users of a drug has a lot to do with the way the drug is pereived. Not necessarily by people on a harm reduction site on the web, but the general public anyway.

So I guess that i would say meth is the pcp and crack of this decade, as pills are the ecstasy and coke. Just my opinion...

btw. Those kids in chi who can't find meth, ask some gay guys you know who go out a lot. it's all over gay clubs and saunas and whatever in the city, most cities actually.

In the UK i would have to say that it's ketamine or coke. Coke use is fucking widespread these days, everyone from people in the pub on a friday night to suited businessman is at it, but it's always been relatively popular. Ketamine use has risen massively, and is now without a doubt the choice of drug on the rave scene, and is spreading elsewhere. More people do coke, but I would say ketamine usage has grown more. However, it probably would have been the decade of mushrooms if they hadn't of closed the loophole in our law, you could walk in to most towns of a decent size and buy them if there was a head shop. Everyone was having a try simply because they were available.

id have to say meth is the drug now as well....it was MDMA for awhile in the late 90's and early 00 to 03 but as of late, e hasnt been quality..i havnt touched it in almost 10 months...i used to roll every weekend a few times, lol....now all ill do is smoke the herb, drink beer/liquor...and the meth, its around and always good

Coke is fuckin' dead as disco. Heroin's comin' back in a big fuckin' way.

disco's not dead!

night fever night fever.....

as for drug of the decade? I'd say Meth, it's all over the news.

well the only drug that actually HIT the mainstream drug users in my area, was Ketamine, K rose up and became a common name along side E, cid ,whites and 4's

Hmm..time machine anyone? I'd like to go back to the late 90's.. fuck this meth stuff. Whose coming with me?

pharmies...opiates and benzos...i mean i myself not only really got caught up in them in the last few years, had a good taste of them maybe 5 years ago...but recently all these high school kids around here are selling them and looking for them...

well not for just this year but in general the era after the 90's (late 90'-now?)
in america, i think methamphetamine in certain parts (the extent of methamphetamine use rise is defiinetely hyped/exaggerated by media though), pharmaceuticals in general, and "research chemicals" for certain groups of psychedelics users.

highschool kids love pills, especially valium, xanax, and vicodin.

just somethin about seein highschool kids slangin oxy is weird, but I can get a $10 80mg hook from a highschool friend so it's all good over here 8o

i really wish E would come back though, I've been wanting to roll for the longest time but can't find a decent pill. Just not worth the hassle anymore :-(

Definitely benzos. My biggest pet peeve is hearing high school imbeciles calling them "k-pins" or "xannies". 8(

benzo's and I feel Ketamine isn't getting the play it deserves if done correctly it can be paradise diguised in liquid form...

meth seems to be a huge topic in the media as well, but i never tried it so can't really speak much on it..
