Hello, I have recently acquired Hydrocodone. I'm assuming that you can swallow these orally, to get the psychoactive effect. I'm also wondering how much to take for recreational use, while being safe. On the bottle it says, "Hydrocodon-Acetaminoph 7.5-500." Underneath that in small print it says, "Substituted for: Lortab 7.5-500 tablet." The problem I'm having is it doesn't specify the dosage. I think it means it's measured in Mg's, but I'm not sure.

It also says to take one tablet every four hours as needed. I took two spaced out by four hours in a day, and I feel a moodlift, albeit it's not a strong buzz. I know not to combine these with alcohol. I'm wondering what's the standard recreational dosage for these. Is it safe to take two at once? If not, how many hours should I space these out by? Should three be my limit? The pills themselves are white, oblong shaped tablets, with a number on the front. I know I'm asking a lot of questions, I'm just trying to stay safe, pardon my ignorance. Thanks for any help.

General rule of thumb is to not exceed 3000 to 4000 mg. of APAP in a 24 hour period. APAP being the number on the right hand side of the backslash.....7.5/500. Or 1000 to 1500 mg. of APAP in one sitting. But to answer, yes you could take 2, but as you said you are a noob, so I would just take one to see how you react. As they say...u can always take more, but you can't take less

The dose is 7.5mg of hydrocodone (the active ingredient, a semi synthetic opioid narcotic) with 500mg of Acetaminophen (the active ingredient in Tylenol).

You have to be careful taking compounded opioids like vicodin/lortab/norco because each pill contains Tylenol/acetaminophen (abbreviated as APAP) which is toxic in excessive doses. The maximum daily limit is 3-4 grams, (so 6-8 of your pills).

Obviously you shouldn't take 6-8 pills without a tolerance to hydrocodone, because that would be way too much.

I recommend you start off with just one taken orally with a tall glass of water, see how you feel in an hour and if you want to redose, take half of another one. (3.5mg)

You do not want to take too much to begin with because A) it's a strong CNS depressant that can depress your breathing. B) you will get sick, nauseous, feverish, itchy, etc it has a lot of side effects you should read up on, perform a search and educate yourself as best you can before taking opioid narcotics for the first time. C) When mixed with other CNS depressants such as alcohol, or benzodiazepines, sleep and anxiety medications, certain anti-depressants, other opioids, drugs in general, excessive CNS depression can occur slowing your breathing it can be fatal, so do not mix this medication with the above.

Since you have taken 2 spaced out over 4 hours and felt a slight mood lift you can go ahead and take the two at once. I wouldn't exceed 3 in an hours time, and I wouldn't even take the other one later since re-dosing usually doesn't do much in terms of adding to the high, so you would just be contributing to tolerance without getting anything positive from it. When I first took a recreational dose after taking them as directed I took 4 and got sick, so that's why I recommend 3 at the most, but only after seeing how two at once works for you. Wait 30 minutes before taking another half or full pill if you think you need it, and after an hour I wouldn't bother taking more.

Taking it with a tall glass of water as tricomb mentioned is a good way to take it, and I've felt that doing so helps with the effects a bit. Once you are a bit used to the hydrocodone and know the good effects to embrace then you can usually get better effects of the same dose as before, so that's why the two may be enough.

I always found that breaking them in half first improved their effect. Perhaps it's just my imagination, but it always seemed to work for me. You can develop a tolerance to these pretty fast, so your best bet is to take as little as possible and space out the dose as much as you can. Vicodin withdrawal isn't the worst (compared to stronger opiates) but it's still no fun!

Wow, thanks for the informative posts! I did what Tommyboy suggested and took two at once then took a third ~30 minutes later. Didn't have a lot of euphoria. I'm not sure if my tolerance already built up, even though I only took two the day before, so I'm gonna wait a couple days at least, and then redose. What's the easiest way to cut the pills in half? I also wanna try smoking weed and see if that increases the effects.

Edit: Anyone have any information on the max number of APAP you can take in a short time period (couple hours) without doing any liver damage? I've heard some say don't go over 1000mg in a 1-6 hour window and others say don't take more than 2000mg in the same time frame.
