Drug induced pancreatic damage

The author Philip K Dick suffered permanent pancreatic damage from years of drug abuse.

Which drugs specifically would cause this?

I've heard of brain, liver, bladder, gastrointestinal damage, but never of pancreatic.

Can anyone shed any light on this for me?

only substance in particular that comes to my mind is alcohol but im sure that most drugs arent exactly good for it either
