A drug dealer who gunned down a customer over an $80 heroin debt must spend the rest of his life locked up.

Jose A. Castro, 26, of Queens, N.Y. and the 400 block of South Queen Street in York City, appeared in York County Court on Tuesday and was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Castro, known as "Chucky," was convicted of first-degree murder on Sept. 16. It took jurors four hours to reach their verdict.

Chief deputy prosecutor Karen Comery said Castro executed Pedro "Kiki" Solis-Baez, 29, in the 300 block of Susquehanna Avenue on July 31, 2009. Solis-Baez was a heroin addict who owed Castro -- his drug dealer -- $80, she said.

Violent history: Jurors who decided Castro's fate didn't get to hear that he was previously charged with violent felonies in New York City as well, Comery said, including attempted murder, gang assault and assault with a deadly weapon.

"The citizens of York and New York are a little safer because he won't be back on the street," she said.

It's so senseless to impose sentences that in no way change the reality of the situation: people are going to keep borrowing $80 and shit is going to keep getting real until they learn that unless they want to be like Kiki then they better come up off that stack.

Yeah, what an idiot. I can see where the logic is, killing a customer who owes you money. That way nobody gets the idea that you can be pushed around and taken for a chump. But seriously, when dealing with junkies, don't spot them drugs?!

Like seriously... Clearly this guy never heard the song "10 Crack commandments" 8)

^^ Not the knee cap - Then he can't walk to the spot to buy dope anymore. He'll also probably end up with a lifetime scrip for OC80s, so that's still bad for business.

What ever happened to the simplicity of kicking an ass rather than all this gun BS?

But Chucky won't be killing any more potential customers. What else are you going to do with killers, let them back out to kill again?

I would think that most dealers would realize that harming or robbing a customer is a bad business decision, because over time they're going to filter a hell of a lot more money into buying than you're going to make shaking them down and risking them finding a new dealer over whatever piddly amount that they owe. That line of thinking is pretty much the only reason I'm not scared of my dealers...

My father was not a heroin addict. This is fake news. He took my father because my fathers ex girlfriend set my father up. So stop with the fake news. I’m 19 years old now. I been looking for justice for my father he got it. It might not bring him back but castro piece of shit got what he deserved. So please stop with the fake news. I might’ve been a young girl but once I hit the age that I wanted to know the truth about my father I got it and this whole thing is a lie. My dad was not on heroin. We use to talk everyday. I use to live in Puerto Rico. We’ve talked everyday. And not once he showed a signal on being on no fuckin heroin. Fake ass news. I don’t care how long this was his daughter is here now and all this shit is fake. My dad was planning on leaving York to come back and live with me and my mother. His ex girlfriend didn’t like my mom she always showed hatred towards my moM because my mom was the his baby mother and he always gave all his attention to me and not her nor her kids. So this fake news y’all got it do better.

You been through some shit, I get that. Just try to remember the perspective that you’re absolutely right, we in the end don’t know shit. With that, understand people will make assumptions based on the little information they have. Everyone does it..

Your anger should be with the news organization who wrote the information not the people reading that clip and discussing it. If what you say is true (I don’t know) it’s on the journalists to get the facts right, if they deceive readers it’s their lies.

Also I leave with, it doesn’t matter if he was a heroin addict or not. That has fuckall to do with who he was as a person. Even the best people on this planet get caught up in these drugs. It shouldn’t matter one way or the other. I was a heroin addict myself, I’m now what society would consider successful, that was just one minor phase of life that didn’t define me as a person.

One final note. This was over a decade ago and the people you’re responding to are probably all gone by now.
