Dropping a solution of LSD on grains of rice

Even if that drink is distilled water (which no one should drink any significant quantity of), compounds are as a general rule less stable in (aqueous) solution because they get ionized all the time. Drinks with all sorts of other stuff in it such as acidity regulators might (ironically) be even worse.

I have done this successfully (for a few days) without noticeable loss of potency.
 
Why shouldn't anyone drink much distilled water?

It is hypotonic i.e. it contains less physiologically relevant salt(s) than 0.9% which would be isotonic and a perfect match for the human body. That is why sports drinks contain electrolytes, it replenishes bodily fluids which have both water and that amount of salts / electrolytes.
Distilled or demineralized water contains pretty much zero salts / minerals / electrolytes and therefore if you excrete it again in the form of isotonic bodily excretions like sweat or urine salts are leeched from your body. If you only drink a little bit, your body can easily compensate especially if you eat something salty. But that is why I said large quantities, then you could get hyponatremia. No bueno.

I believe you have, but I was talking long-term. A great many storage condition factors have little meaning if talking about a matter of days. With some exceptions of course like leaving certain tryptamines exposed to the elements at STP.
 
The amount of electrolytes in typical rainwater is pretty much insignificant. I thought most people get essentially all of their sodium/potassium etc from food. Water may be a source of calcium and magnesium in some areas but otherwise I think seasoning with salt (& digestible ash) is probably the biggest contributor.

Drinking distilled water isn't going to harm you unless you're consuming large amounts. (multiple gallons in a sitting) People don't normally consume isotonic saline - it's too salty.
 
Alright I was always told such things at the labs and uni, maybe it was a matter of principle or education. So, I guess similarly it wouldn't hurt to do injections with distilled (bacteriostatic) water instead of saline and saline is only really mandatory with drips / infusions? Unless you like, IM every 10 minutes, or even then...
