Driving the car home

I thought it might be interesting to ask you people how you get home from a night of partying. in home i mean, where you crash - it could be a friends house or whatever.
cause yeah i drive and there have been times i've been out and i've gone home the next day in the car in not such a good state and its what i should admit to myself as being a bit dodgy.
but who wants to bother with public transport or pay for a taxi? its the easiest way. going straight from the party to the recovery house is the most valueable thing, i believe. if you're on e or some other substance you dont want any hassles.
its a bit of a dilemma.
anyway, leave any thoughts.. or solutions.. please..

I used to hate driving home because by the time everyone was ready to leave I'd be coming down and really scattered and not in a good state to drive at all. Recently tho I've been leaving while I'm still buzzing nicely and I've gotta say it's not bad at all, I really don't mind driving while I'm off my head, as long as I'm not too far gone (and by the time I leave, well I definately won't be peaking anymore)
So if you leave the party a little earlier than normal, while you're still buzzing, driving home ain't much of a problem.
'Course there's the problem of unsafe driving, if anyone says they drive better when they're off their head I'll challenge them to a reaction test
And there's also the problem of actually dragging yourself away from the party before it finishes

Common Sense isn't all that common
 
yep I always make sure I'm 'still going' when I leave the party, and always look forward to the cruise and regard it as a highlight of the night. At this stage I'd argue safety isn't an issue provided you're not going too hard.
Finally you've got some fresh air, comfy seats, wack on the fav tunes, and look forward to a fun day of recovering.
After half a day or so at the recovery - comedowns have set in... feeling half braindead the drive home from there is not quite so desirable - I try to avoid going through the city at all costs.
 
The problem with driving on drugz... is no matter how safe you may decide you are.. if you do crash (probably some drunken fool will crash into you) then the presence of drugz in your system will mean an exercise in having books thrown at you.
This may not seem like a big issue if you're younger... but trust me, my professional life would be fukt up if I was convicted of this kind of thing. It's not a risk I can take...
(On the other hand, my professional life probably would not suffer from being caught drink-driving... but that's so fukken dangerous that I would never do it!)

Yeah I think the whole situation with pub transport can be pretty shit sometimes, most venues are too far from trains, and cabs will seldom come out that far and/or stop for you. Why screw around with all that when you can drive from door to door =).
Only problem I see which has been brought up is the the issue of driving while under the influence. Your trip (home) is only as safe as the least safest person out there on the roads.
I kept drifting off for a few seconds at a time once, and kept waking with the car half in the oncoming lane. Then I dozed off completely waiting for the train to pass and the crossing beams to raise. Should have taken these as a warning to pull over and take a rest because later I nearly ploughed into a wall barrier, if it weren't for the rustling of the leaves against the side mirror I would have. I now believe those TAC ads about driving while tired.

hey jb - serious question - not having a go at you.....
Do you think we could start running out of things to discuss if topics were only brought up once? Hell there's only so much you can discuss about 'e' barring new scientific developments. There is always new bluelighters coming in who might want to discuss topics which have been previously brought up.
Is this discussion board more intended as an information database? If so I'd understand -due to limited bandwidth is it??.... and this site doesn't benefit from regular visitors... is that right?
Guess there ain't a whole lot of companies willing to advertise on this site - maybe a 5htp co. could be approached - but then again I doubt they'd publicy want to acknowledge where 90% of their sales are from eh?

bring up topics as many times as you want...
i just think its sad that people miss out on all these other great threads on the same topics because they dont search...
i just think it would have been better if this topic had just been put in the same thread as the other, so all thse great posts were in one place, rather than split up all over the board, where some might get lost..
does this make sense? no one values good topics like this more than me, but i just hate to see people missing out on good stuff...
 
I agree with you JB. It saves time wading through alot of different threads that cover the same topic. It's keeping all this valuable information that we all provide easily accessible. New people to BL sometimes do not realise this and therefore need to be shown the benefits of the search function. This way information is not scattered everywhere.
