Driving High

When I drive high im just sleepier. I go the speed limit, use signals, stop at red lights, stay in the lane... Everything is the same, and i rarely lose focus or space out. Ive even been pulled over high and nothing has happened. They stopped me for rolling through a stop sign and gave me my ticket and sent me on my way.

Id say it only gets sketchy if you freak out because of paranoia.

From personal experience, you drive a little safer when high, but make dumb mistakes such as missing a turn you were supposed to make, so you turn around and you might miss it again because you're so into the conversation you're having with your friend, unless you try really hard to focus.

I am exactly the same as this, I always drive better when stoned I would say paying more attention to detail so to speak but whenever im cruising about and say I have to drop someone home I will just drive straight past until I stop talking/stop listenin to tunes or someone alerts me lmao and then the process gets repeated until im sober.

IMO, if you're not a good driver to begin with, no substance is going to improve your driving.

Also if you think weed isn't a psychedelic, then you're not smoking the good stuff. I actually managed a full-on visual hallucination of a man walking down a hallway a few years ago after smoking less than a gram of Cali Mist. True it only has happened once in ten years of smoking, but it still happened.

There are many full-time drug users out there who need drugs to survive mentally and/or physically. A lot of these people who rely on weed, including myself, wouldn't necessarily drive as well if they hadn't smoked because they would feel "off" and maybe not be totally with it.

But people who are purely recreational users, well they are generally more likely to become impaired while driving intoxicated, because they would be at their peak mental performance while sober.

Weed has different effects on everyone. It's like, if a person with ADD takes Ritalin, it will calm them. But if a person without ADD takes Ritalin, it will make them speedy and jittery. If a person with severe pain takes Methadone, it will help decrease their pain and allow them to feel somewhat normal. But if I take Methadone, I will feel way better than normal and way slower as well.

And no person over the age of 18, or without a good lawyer in their family, should ever drive while smoking. It's crazy! What a pointless way to ruin your life when you can smoke anywhere else in the world with a smoke muffling device and a window.

It's not that big of a deal if you are used to it. The problem comes if you get pulled over, any cop with half a brain will smell something. Plus most people get nervous if pulled over when high. On the other hand, we got weed a few times laced with PCP and drove around like morons. Talk about hard to drive, the speed makes no sense to the brain.

Im still a "learner" driver here in australia, which means i have to drive with someone with their full open license at all times. The other day my mum came home after i had had a mega sesh and was stoned as hell (mum didnt know), she then asked me to drive us out to dinner because she was tired, and i couldnt really say "no i cant im too stoned" or id be in a whole world of trouble, so off i go to drive. I quite enjoyed it, considering the roads were pretty empty and i was on a freeway for most of the drive, if it had been more of a difficult drive i would have said no...but anyway i found myself to be more cautious then when sober, so this could be a good or bad thing

That's how I learned to drive when I was all fucked up! My dad would come home from work and be like "You ready to go driving?" and I'd have no choice but to say "Of course" or else I'd be in a shitload of trouble too. I drove drunk with him a couple of times and he didn't notice until about halfway through the ride when he'd mention that it smelled like beer in the car.

Shit man... those were good times. It was like I had a mentor to guide me through driving while intoxicated.

I seem to be a afer and better driver whilst stoned, no sudden urges of acceleration or sharp cornering.

My personal Blunt Ride Rules:

1) Only bring one blunt

2) Make sure nobody in the car has any bags (empty or full), paraphernalia, or any other drugs (regardless of legality) on them

3) Always make sure everybody in the car has put in eye drops prior to leaving

4) Ozium 1-2 sprays = any smell completely obliterated

If you follow these above rules, whether you get pulled over or not. You should have nothing to worry about. Just driving high, or transporting the goods from one place to another is an entirely different topic.

Driving high without substances = Who cares. Driving high (bad with) or sober with substances =

1.) everything locked in glove compartment.

2.) never give up your rights by consenting to a search

3.) if they ask you to step out of the car, roll up windows and close/lock the door (of course turn off ignition)

4.) don't give cops a probable cause (the less they know, the better. always think of an alibi before hand, keep it simple, stupid.)

Back when I started learning to drive I took most of my driving lessons stoned, was a pretty stupid thing to do in hindsight but I never had any major fuckups and I was just learning to drive.

Driving high where I live (Melbourne, Australia) is a BAD idea because they have roadside drug testing randomly and they test for weed.

Great tips. As long as you dont look, smell, or have anything in your car to make ppl think you're high - you just look like a stupid person to the cop.

I read a study, which compared the effects of alcohol and driving, and marijuana smoking and driving. The marijuana people were given no more than 30 minutes to smoke, and had abstained from MJ for 1 month prior. The concluion was, alcohol greatly inhibits your ability to drive (duh).
But marijuana did not show any significant decrease in driving ability - in fact, in many of the subjects, people who were high were less likely to speed, go through yellow lights, cut people off, switch through lanes ect. They came to the conclusion that since the people were high, they (obviously) would not want to be pulled over, which made them a more cautious driver than if they were sober.

Personally, I do feel i drive best sober. Driving while high is not difficult, however, I find, sometimes, little things; such as, waiting for an appropriate time to turn, or yield, gets messed up, and judgement is ever so slightly diminished. I'll admit, i'm much much more likely to speed while driving sober, which is, how I drive almost all the time.

Alright, while I see these are all valuable precautions to someone driving DUI, someone who drives stoned only occasionaly, and smokes maybe, a 1-2 times a week, it would then be easier for a popo to see it in your eyes, if you're not good at bluffing. Also, getting pulled over, for most people, makes them
n e r v o u s - as it doesnt happen too often. Which would prob result in the person not saying or acting completely sober.
I myself, pull a good sober.

LMAO yeah it happens %)

driving blazed is pretty easy. Id probably wouldnt know what to do if a cop stop me and smelt and search my shit and had it though. but usually i dont ride dirty if im driving intoxicated. I drove tripping too, and dam..you think you know how to drive? try to drive tripping

I made a short trip (less than 5 minutes) about 6 hours into an acid trip. Now that was intense. Not something I ever plan on doing again and highly recommend no one else try it.

I like the stuff about the learners permit though. Happened to me plenty of times. Luckily my mom never had any clue. Now a days I drive high probably more than I drive sober so its just second nature.

Rolling and driving was one of the most fun and completely terrifying experiences I've ever had. I'm assuming tripping and driving is like that too, with a little more emphasis on terrifying and less on fun.

I'd also recommend that nobody try driving on any kind of hallucinogen. That shit is completely unsafe for you, anybody that's with you in the car and every other driver on the road. I'll never do it again, but holy fuck was that a night to remember.

Be careful not to hit anything
Damn I thought I was the only person who thought that. Haha just messing.

Anyway, don't text while driving, ESPECIALLY if you're under the influence of any drugs/alcohol.

If you are under the influence, I'd recommend going 5 mph under the speed limit. It's not enough to get pulled over, but will help you out some. (If you do get pulled over for going slowly, ask the cop for directions to the closest XXXX store/restaurant, because you got lost.)

If you want to be extra safe, text your location to a friend every few miles. If you're too baked and get lost, then a friend can come round and pick you up.
I'd say much safer to call your friend once you do get lost. Or tell your friend before you get in the car, your starting/ending points. (Or just pay your friend $5-10 to drive you. Much easier, and you won't be paranoid either.)

Jibult I've also drove rolling before, basically spent the whole roll behind the wheel of the car. That was hella fun! I realize it definitely wasn't the most responsible thing to do but it wasn't a very high dose and I just had a blast riding around blazing with my friends bumpin tunes. Again, I dont recommend anyone try this :P
