Drinking beer after quitting Xanax SR?

I have been taking Xanax SR 0.5mg each day for several months now. I just quit taking them since Monday of this week in preparation for Oktoberfest on Friday at a friend's house in which I plan on drinking ONE bottle of beer. And another bottle the next day after. Will I be Ok drinking beer after quitting Xanax SR after about 5 days? As far as withdrawals, I am pretty much feeling great. Been working out each night as well. Drinking a lot of water. Bur so far, no major WDs...

However, I plan on taking the Xanax SR (for my panic attacks) once this party is over. But as a precaution, I will not take them right after the party, instead I would just wait a few days until the beer washes totally out from my system.

So I stopped taking the Xanax SR on Monday, and I plan on drinking a bottle of beer this Friday night. And another one on Saturday night as well.
Will I be Ok?

So, my last XANAX XR 0.5mg dose was Sunday morning. Can I go ahead and drink one bottle of beer for tomorrow's party?

Again, I have 61 views and no responses?

How long after can I drink a bottle of beer if I stopped taking the Xanax XR 0.5mg?
Had been taking 0.5mg each day.
My last dosage was 0.5mg on Sunday. So is it safe to drink a bottle of beer?

Hey hun, i don't know much about this topic, but i felt bad that you hadn't gotten any replies. So i typed into google "alcohol after xanax withdrawal". I hope this helps hun...

I am just concerned if i will have respiratory depression when drinking one bottle of beer after not taking Xanax XR for a week.

Is this a really hard question???
I want to drink a bottle of beer at this party.

All I want to know if I drink a beer, will I have respiratory depression or fall into a coma after not taking Xanax XR for a week?
Will the Xanax XR still be in my system after a week?

That's it....What's so hard about this question?

I am very concerned here.

Or, maybe know body knows what XANAX XR means???
XR= Extended Release
That's pretty lame.

To be honest you could take 4 times your usual dose and then chug that bottle beer and you would almost certainly be fine well high but not at risk of death. .05mg of xanax sr is nothing. You are fine and worrying for nothing. There is your answer

You were on a relatively small dose for a relatively short amount of time. That being said, drinking at all does pose a risk of causing or worsening withdrawal symptoms.

My own experience was benzos involved higher doses over a longer period of time. In my case, I tried drinking again a year after quitting, and had a bad withdrawal flare-up. But now, several years after quitting, I can drink without any problems at all.

You will most likely not have any real problems due to a couple of beers this weekend. But I wouldn't make a habit of it until you've put a good chunk of time between yourself and your past benzo use.

Ok, just saw this other post of yours ... honestly, the level of anxiety you're having about this is probably stemming from the benzo withdrawal itself. Respiratory depression from a beer or two is such a remote and unlikely possibility that you have no reason to worry about it. Benzo withdrawal does not involve respiratory depression; that's what benzo overdose (usually in conjunction with alcohol or other downers) can cause. The real risk of drinking at this stage in your withdrawal is that you'll suffer worsened rebound anxiety, insomnia, or other symptoms of that sort ... death or coma, on the other hand, are not even worth worrying about.

Thanks guys. I am sorry about my attitude here. I was just really concerned. That's all.
I have had one bottle of beer. It felt really refreshing. However, I noticed that I did not catch a buzz. Not even a slight buzz. Well, I was eating a light meal before that. But no buzz. I guess the Xanax does cause very high tolerance to alcohol...But anyways, it felt nice to have a cold refreshing beer which I had not had in a good while.

I have one more bottle to go here for later.

But I think you guys are missing my point here. I am not concerned by the withdrawals particularly. My main concern is this. How long can one drink a bottle of beer for example, after taking Xanax XR (Extended Release) or SR (Sustained Release) without having major respiratory depression, coma, or death?
Is it after 4 hours?
Is it after 24 hours?
Or how long?

Because as you said, mixing alcohol with benzos is really dangerous, so I do want to avoid that risk by any means.

I'm not sure if this is relevant, but I drank quite a lot after quitting my very mild xanax habit to help with the withdrawal. That and weed seemed to help. Not telling you to do that, just that that's what I did and I'm still here.

You more than likely are not going have respiratory depression from having a beer, even if some of the Alprazolam lingers in your system in minute amounts. I think that's the gist here, you really needn't worry about that. People who have serious problems from this sort of thing are usually combining significant doses of either (benzos and alcohol) or both. This isn't your case.

If you were taking a handful of pills and asking if it was a good idea to go immediately get drunk, people would probably say it's dangerous. But at these doses and in this time frame? I would say don't worry about it.

Also xanax has a short half life, I think it takes about 4 or 5 half lifes for blood levels of a chemical to reach about 3%. I'd have to recheck that but if it's right by 5 days it should be about gone.

I DO NOT intend to mix Xanax with a beer at ONCE...My question is, how long should I wait to drink a beer after my last dose with Xanax which was 0.5mg?

Dude, for real, if you're not getting the answer to your question, call your doctor. Ask him/her about it. A pharmacist might even know.

And it's Sunday, you were asking about Friday and Saturday anyways, so either you drank a beer or didn't.

0.5mg alprazolam won't kill you even if you drink serious booze. In my reckless times of youth I sometimes took a lorazepam and drank until I knocked out. Noting to be proud of or to recommend at all but you'll be fine.

Your question has been answered several times over in several ways now, you would be fine in the scenario you mentioned. Five days is more than enough time. And as someone else mentioned, it has already passed, so you either drank it, or you didn't.

With all due respect, your kind of acting like a jerk here. People are going out of their way to reassure you and answer you as best they can, and you keep asking the same question over again. We aren't doctors here, we can just give you our best ideas with the information we have. If you want an exact recommended time frame, ask a doctor.
