Dried Poppy Pods

ok guys, i just finished ordering some turkish poppy pods from they are being overnited to me so tomorrow i will be slicing pods. but im curious if anyone else has ordered dried poppy pods before and if so how were they. is the opium inside still as good as when it was cut from the plant? ive never even smoked real opium that i know off. im in for a treat. anyone have any ideas on yield from a pod?

When getting dried pods there is no opium in them. They are used for making tea. BE WARNED, the tea can get strong and possibly kill you. Take care when making it and start small. The tea is great, gives a nice buzz! Be well.

Don't be expect to be able to yeild any gummy substance from those dry pods. Your best bet is to make a tea from it (directions can be found anywhere). Those pods look good, I bet the resulting tea would be strong as fuck. If you really want something smokable, you could boil the powdered pods in water, then evaporate it in hopes of leaving a resin (which you could scrape up and smoke). Personally I would try the tea with those dried pods, im sure it would give a nice long lasting high. Pods do seem to cause more side-effects than morphine/codeine in their pure form, likely due to all the other weird quinolines found in pods.
 
sorry about that post i fixed it my mistake. so ive realized what im getting now but i think i will try both. i'll make a tea and im gunna try to extract some opium from it. so i can smoke some. is it possible to smoke the dry pod crushed up? or would there be too many contaminates?
 
There wouldn't be enough opium in a dried pod to make it worth your while. And if you try boiling them for the resin, you're going to lose a bit of the psychoactives.
Listen to everyone and just make the tea so you can get the most of what you paid for.
 
Fuck doing them. You should just try to get rid of them to some local unsuspecting rubes. This way you can at least get your money back...
 
damnit, so these pods are a waste? this sux. well im not goin to boil them. im gunna make the tea like it says then im gunna let the tea evaporate so i can get the tar. i hope.
 
More then likely you're getting crap... the dried pods can be used to make tea but you're not going to have that kick-ass experience you would if it was fresh andthe opium was nice and fresh.... I agree, sell them to some ravers ...
 
Why does freshness matter? I mean if these are really just dried poppy pods (and haven't already been harvested) why would you lose any morphine? I thought it was pretty stable.
Maybe this is more of an ingestion problem. With the dried pods you can't get the goey milk out and smoke it forcing you to drink it in tea. Of course morphine isn't well absorbed orally so you would notice a large reduction in potency vs. smoking opium.
Maybe if you did an A/B extraction on the pods and smoked your product it would be considerably more potent.
Any thoughts?
