In the movie, WAKING LIFE there is a quote that proves truer every morning when I get up... "Someone once told me the worst mistake you can make is believing that you are alive... when, in fact, you are asleep in life's waiting room."





Long days
Make for short nights
and I've been dreaming again.
We're all in a huge airport,
so big it acts like a city.

People and governments come and go,
and no one remembers Michaelangelo.

I'm fighting and stealing
to make my way home--
but I don't remember where it is or why I need to be there.

I run through the giant columns
of iron and steel
and climb to new heights above a long lost life of my own.

I have been here before
with all of you
and we did this once
and nothing happened
so let's try again-
once more with feeling.

Life is a dream with all the possibilities
of a trillion years in every instant.

I can see the flags hung limp
in a dead windless sky
where we have flown
to houses I hope still live on perilous hills of memory.

Just like last time we all feel marginalized
while the world looks on in wonder.

We rock out with cherubim
to songs older than us
and dance like wind-fed fires
for the stars...
the only eyes watching.

We fall to the nighttime wet grass and remember
when WE were the only eyes watching.

This time let's wake up and remember
in this crowded waiting room...
leave it to humanity to create rooms just for waiting.

I guess somedays just remembering is enough.
