Dramamine = Diphenhydrinate OR Dimenhydrinate ?

I've noticed that people here relate Dramamine to Diphenhydinate rather than Dimenhydrinate. I've got a box of Dramamine from the pharmacy and I've read the instructions on it and it states diMenhydrinate. So which is which and well if its dimenhydrinate, what difference is it from diphenhydrinate ?

People will disagree with me but from all I've read, diphenhydramine is double as potent as dimenhydramine, a little bit harder on the stomach and gives the same basic "recreational" effects. They're very similar.

WEll, from wat i see.. most people here relate dramamine to Diphenhydramine which seems wrong when i refer to the insert coming with the box of dramamines.

Now correct me if I'm just having a case of bad memory, but aren't there several types of dramamine? I think at least one of them has diphenhydramine. If not, there are other things with this chemical in it. Such as benadryl. also, i recently found 4oz bottles of diphenhydramine at the (woohoo) Dollar store.

I could have sworn dramamine was diphenhydrinate, but seeing as i stopped being a moron w/ my drug use a few years ago, i could be quite wrong.

The effects of diphenhydramine HCl and dimenhydrinate are virtually the same. However, diphenhydramine HCl produces a more marked, rapid effect. Dimenhydrinate was developed to avoid those effects, but still have the H2 effects.
Dimenhydrinate is the 8-chlorotheophyllinate salt of diphenhydramine HCl. You don't have to worry too much about what that means! [if you wanna know: it means there's an additional bunch of atoms attached to each of the diphenhydramine molecules. This bunch of atoms is stripped off when it dissolves in water, so that the effect of the drug is not changed. However, it adds to the weight of the molecule, which means that the drug is less potent.] The only important difference is potency: 50mg of dimenhydrinate and cyclizine HCl is equivalent to 25mg of diphenhydramine HCl and meclizine HCl. It's basically the same drug. Of course, these drugs are more expensive as a sleep aid than as an allergy medicine, though it is the same formulation. Be sure to keep your eyes open if you want the best deal.
Meclizine hydrochloride is much like dimenhydrinate, except that it produces less sleepiness and has a weaker effect.

which I would read from start to finish.

diphenhydramine is what is found in benedryl and that simply sleep stuff made by tylenol. Diphenhydramine will most likely make you want to go to sleep. as far as recreational effects, you might get some bizarre dreams but unless you consider sleeping fun...(sometimes it is) i wouldn't put this one one my list of saturday nite goodies
dimenhydrinate is what is in Dramamine. it will cause downright hallucinations at about the 300 mg point. i'm talking about having conversations with people that do NOT exist. it's nothing like acid or shrooms. this shit is downright dangerous to do by yourself so if you feel up to it make sure you have a sitter and be prepared to be catapulted to another world that doesn't exist. the thing is that you really don't realize that your "tripping". you think that everything is pretty much "normal" thoughts are very hard to keep for longer than 5 seconds at a time. too much baggage to be fun in my opinion
be careful

No, they're very similar. Diphenhydramine will take you as far as dimenhydrinate in equivilent doses. I've been there unfortunately. Diphenhydramine won't put you to sleep in "recreational" doses. Infact, your heart will be so speed up that you won't be able to sleep. You'll feel like you're in a dream though, or more than likely a nightmare.
I challenge anyone to sleep ~8 hours after taking a big dose of it ;)

Diphenhydramine is the stuff in my OTC sleep aids. A normal dosage is 25 mg. At 12, 25, and 50 mg, I don't get any hallucinogenic effect whatsoever. I just sometimes get sleepy.
Aryios, to stay awake on a large amount of diphenhydramine, I would probably need some strong stimulant. But it'd be stupid to mix stimulants and depressants like that, particularly in great amounts.

I didn't get any hallucinations until I tried 600 and 850. 50 is certainly not going to do shit for you.
Disclaimer: I wasn't suicidal in this time of moronity. I didn't realize how close I came to killing myself until the second time I used it, when I took 600. First time was 850 in which I was too insane to feel my heart beat.
FYI 'trip' doses are very large and you will not be able to fall asleep for the majority of it, until you've mostly come down, trust me.
