So I broke my old down stem and I bought a new one a few weeks ago. My new stem was stuck and I spent hours trying to get it out without breaking anything and I managed to get it out after countless hours of small tugs. I figured I may as well clean the bong and that may solve my "sticky situation" but it did not however. My bong is completely clean. Spotless. And I just smoked one bowl and I come back in only to realize, the down-stem is STUCK like glue all over again. I usually have to fill my base a little more than half way because I have to use a short stem as longer ones wont fit. The bong is glass on glass, I was wondering if someone could explain what my problem is? The problem is persistent.

Downstem Keeps getting stuck?

This happens to me sometimes. My theory is that the downstem heats up and pushes against the hole in the bong. To reverse this effect I just torch the outer glass (the one you stick the downstem in) to make it increase in size a bit loosening up the connection.
