So I recently got given this bag of what appears to be tea by a mate as a 'sample'. The packet is yellow and it says

It's clearly a tea bag but it looks imported. He reckons there is some kind of DMT like effect to be gained from smoking it. I'm not a huge fan of just trying out things like these but it did spark my curiosity. Google isn't helpful but 'calamus' came up a few times.

Any ideas? At the very least some confirmation to stop it going around if it's not good.

Exactly how I feel but the person who I heard it from has extensive experience with DMT, LSD, and MDMA. Plus we're not it high school :)

Calamus isn't anything like DMT from what I can gather.. I grew some once, the rhizomes can be chewed for stimulation and one of the alkaloids can be turned into TMA series chemicals; but i don't think an extract of it would prove significantly psychoactive.

We have a policy of not allowing IDing of random or brand name substances, so I'm wondering whether this should be closed; however I'm going to leave it open for now just in case the name earthly mentioned is the name of a particular plant. If anyone can confirm this, please do so, however please avoid speculation of what this may contain, if you don't know for certain.

After a large filled cone taken in one hit and held for 10-15s there was a few seconds of nothing then a rushing tingling sensation. This only occurred for a second or two before my entire visual frame was enveloped from all sides by colourful lines and patterns. With LSD, open eye visuals are still 'attached' to real world objects that one would be looking at but with this it had no relevance to what was in front of me. With focus I could pull it back and see my surroundings but it just came back again in more force. I can't remember what I heard or felt because the visuals were more intense than any LSD or shrooms I have had before. My mind felt relatively 'sober' and in control, quite unlike the warped thought pattern that LSD gives. They lasted maybe 30-45s (friend's 'trips' lasted 1-2minutes) before fading away rather quickly and leaving me with a odd body sensation and a feeling of exhaustion. I have not had DMT before but this stuff does not fuck around and I am glad it was only short. I probably will not be trying it again anytime soon as I was left a bit shaken by the ridiculous visual experience.

do you think the active ingredient/s were whatever is normally in those teabags, or do you think the teabag itself is a front for whatever had been put inside or added to it?
 
I'm going to close this thread, as without knowing what substance this is, this thread is all speculation and has no HR value, which goes against the rules of BL.
