I got a friend who wants to try Oxycodone or Hydrocodone. He is an opiate virgin and I'm not sure how much I should give him to have a pleasurable time but still remain conscious or alert. I know that I shouldn't start with anything over 20mg of oxycodone or 25mg of hydrocodone, but to make sure I'm looking for others' opinions. The kid is 5'5" and weighs about 125 lbs. If anyone can get me some quick help it'll be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

You've got the correct maximum dosages. But again, those are the max doses a newbie should use.
The first time I ever used Percocet, I consumed 25mgs worth of oxycodone. Honestly, it was too much. I had to lay down for an hour and not move so I wouldn't puke. While the experience blew my mind, I probably could have had a lot more fun on 15mgs.

I would agree with Soviet on this one.
Also, has your friend EVER taken any opiates before, even for pain? Because if not, you definitely would want to start with a low dose because opiate allergies, though rare, can be fatal. I would give him 5mg or so and if he's still ok an hour later give him another 10 or so mg...but start out small just to rule out any possibility of an allergy.

5mg? Come now.. lets see, I'd say to take double or even tripple that with oxycodone and tripple to 4x that amount hydrocodone - of course YMMV, but the reality is that opioid allergies are actually not common at all and it sucks to take a drug yer first time, get only a hint of what it's really like and then it's too late to take a little more and get the full effects..

How is he taking them? Are they time release or not.
One of my first Oxycodone experience was 10mg oral 10mg snorted and I was just barely nodding a little.

since hes a little guy i suggest 15mg would be perfect for a good yet not overwelming high...keep him away from alcohol also.

Hey thanks a lot guys. I gave my friend 20mg of hydrocodone. I guess it seemed to work for him because his pupils were pinned and he was itching very much. The thing is, he wasn't quite nodding off as I did when I first tried hydrocodone, also I while on opiates i feel sleepy, and it didn't seem to make him sleepy...Could this be placebo?? or could it be just that his body reacts to the drug like that?? Well we haven't gotten around to the Oxycodone which will probably be OxyContin, and I think I'll start him off at about 10mg. Well thanks alot, all your information was greatly appreciated. Peace.

Some people get sleepy from opiates, but then sometimes they work like stimulants.. as is my case.
I don't at all think it's placebo.
The one thing I have consistantly noticed is that for the people who get stimulant effects from opiates seem to be much more likely to use opiates on a regular basis and over a long period of time.
Couldn't explain to you why it is or why the effects are different for some people.

I remember my first experience with hydrocodone was 60mg. I wasn't impressed, and never took it again. With everyone so into hydrocodone, I expected more. Now I'm starting to think that the pharmacy gave me expired tablets, or maybe hydrocodone doesn't work on me or something. I did feel kinda different, but didn't even itch, and wasn't the least bit tired until I took several xanax a couple hours later.

I have the same problems with opiates, Hydrocodone doesn't work for me, nor does codien. I thought I just had a natural tolerance but I have taken like 100 mgs of codien and didn't feel anything. I was reading on Erowid about how some people dont have an enzyme that converts Codien to Morphine so that could be the thing but I dont really know.

100 mgs of codeine isn't very much for some people who are naturally tolerant. Try 150+.

Hydrocodone doesn't do a lot for me, either. I'd honestly rather have a bunch of codeine.
For me, hydrocodone basically gives me all the bad side effects and very little high. It's the only opiate that does that for me and I don't know why.
