Hi I'm new to all this. I have been on Benzos 11 years now for anxiety. I recently went into a rehab to help me get off the Xanax because I thought I had a problem. The only thing it made me realize was that I really do have severe social anxiety. I won't even barely leave my house. I panic when I have to go to the store or somewhere around people. I am thinking about going to a new doctor and see if they will put me on the benzos again. Maybe klonopin since it does last longer so that I won't have to take a lot. My question is do I have to tell a new dr that I was in a treatment center for Xanax?

You can do whatever you want, there are no morality police.

And we can't tell you what to say to you're doctor.

No chance you'll close this now?

No you have a right to that privacy. Only do this if you would like your new doctor to know this information. After all patient confidentiality drives him to keep it between you and the doctor. Whatever choice you would like in this situation

Don't tell him about rehab. There is no reason to. You have been on apparently high-dose Xanax for 11 years. That is a beast of an addiction. You're either going to have to do severe therapy and counseling and try to work on the root of your anxiety issues, or get on a longer acting benzo as you suggested. There ARE people that cannot live without anxiety medication. I am one of them and I am without. I'm not in withdrawal from that and my anxiety, both social and general, are terrible. Don't be ashamed of your medication if it makes you function as a normal human being, but you cannot be a living zombie blacked out on Xanax forever either. That is no way to live.
