Raise money with Bluelight vitamins. They would be shaped and colored like the Bluelight logo pill capsule and they would contain 5-HTP, stuff found in regular vitamins, antioxidants, and all sorts of good stuff you need after a weekend of drugs and clubbing, and raving. They would come in a mock up Rx bottle labeled Vitamin-B. I would buy that shit for the novelty alone.

Bluelight could also start printing its own xtc pills and market those aswell ;)

^ LOL. Yeah.

Actually scratch the whole donation thing, Bluelight should start its own cartel.

Bluelight could raise money by selling t-shirts with the bluelight logo on them.
if you search...i think the thread was called "BL merchandise" search merchandise in the lounge, there's a bunch of BL schwag already, but i'm not sure if any profit is to be made of off metacafe or metapress or whatever site they have all the gear being sold through.

i'm thinking payment just covers the cost of the gear.

I know it was pretty early in the discussion (post #4) and some of you lot do a tl;dr on even two posts above your own...

frizz & admin, any chance this baby can become an official fundraising source?

Already talked to friz about it usurping what he set up, and he's fine with that. We just need to work on getting our side of things set up (that damn time element again ;) Where's a magic genie when you need one?)

I just made my monthly donation, but I am wondering if my donation really helps. I have made a small donation (€10 / ~$14) every month now and I am wondering if there are other ways I can support BL, maybe T-shirts or something like that?

I am familiar with monthly subscriptions for other forums, I pay around €4/month to get a ad-free forum with extra PM inbox/more avatars/more photo storage but people can still browse the forum and use everything without paying anything. Now this forum is a lot bigger than BL and so far it seems to work, but it would be a nice idea to generate extra money while still allowing people to have free access to the complete site. :)

Just my €10.00 ;) xD

I think thats a possibility they should consider ^ ^ the pay a small fee and get additions..... although it might not generate large amounts but with donations combined it could come close. I dunno...

50 donors @ €10/month would keep Bluelight shining

Thats directly quoted from the donation tab. That should answer any questions about if anyones donation is big enough :)

That really seems quite within reason. This site has a lot of users. I think just letting people know that every amount, no matter how small, really does make a difference would get people donating more.

Whatever I give to bl will always be smaller than what I have taken from it since I first saw the site.

I cannot guarantee cash flow for a monthly donation but when I can I will. This site cannot go offline.

I liked the mailout idea. I checked my email just now and got the little nudge I needed (while I was in front of the computer!) to make a donation. Small but effective things like that make all the difference.

Unfortunately, I don't have much in the way of ideas, so take my money instead.. :D

How about local fundraisers. Like a meetup that generates cash. I think in places where there's a big community there could be a hosted dinner with drinks or something along those lines. I see in places like socal there's a huge amount of bl'ers that all talk to each other. I'm sure other places ahve similar groups. I'd figure with all the members there would definately be a good amount of cash raised regardless of what type of event.

It would however be a matter of people who are trustworthy enough to hand over the cash etc.

Peace,
J

I know that a long time ago the Aussies used to do this. I'm not sure what the situation is now; I haven't heard of any such events recently.

I never wanted to be asking for it in the first place. I still don't. But if it isn't raised then Bluelight goes away. Or turns into something we don't want.

A large part of the reason that my tone may not sound so chipper right now is that this weekend I am flying to Sydney to go to Alan's memorial. What for many of you is an abstract loss is for me very real, and is about to get much, much realer. I am going to give my condolences in person to his family, who fundamentally do not approve of this site.

My very last contact with Alan was hounding him about the payment he had promised for Bluelight, knowing he was in hospital and very sick, but also knowing that without that payment Bluelight would be literally turned off. He died before I had a chance to properly thank him

This week I have spent the equivalent hours of a part time job organising the financial elements of Bluelight. While working full time elsewhere. While deciding what to wear to a wake.

No. Right now I cannot deal with people asking those questions. Either I have earned the trust of people here to cut me some slack while things get sorted, or else I haven't.

Donate now, donate later when things are more organised, or else don't.

I think we can all sit back and understand that this whole situation at hand, the passing of Alan, the financial elements of BL, has been a long road for some.. Guaranteed.

The key point to everything is simple in my mind. Johnboy is asking for a donation. Bottom line. In no way does that mean that anybody imparticular is solely responsible for making a donation. Actually, no one at all is obligated to do so. I can undestand completely where alot of people would like their questions answered, would like to know where their money is going, the financial elements of things, etc. I can understand that 110%. Because I don't know anyone personally in the Administration of Bluelight, it makes me mildly curious as well. But, do we all have the right to know that? No. What we do have the right and/or privilege to do, is to continue to partake in the BL community. However, it costs money and obviously Johnboy can not afford it himself entirely.. or else he wouldn't be asking for donations.

There is a set mark of how much money is to be raised and/or needs to be raised.
.. "€5.5K in hosting costs and a general purpose slush fund (legal fund) of €1.5K"..

That's good information to know and that's all the "explanation" that is really need.. so long as Johnboy himself is being honest with his intentions and where the money is going.. Our donations.. What the donations are for, etc. I don't see a need to question him anymore with it. Once again.. Bottom line.. It's a donation to the Bluelight cause, really, no explanation is needed. :)

If you love Bluelight, if you have been a member of this community for the past several years, like myself, and soo many others.. I would suggest making a contribution to the cause, to Bluelight, everything it is, what it has become, what it has done for you personally, and the community that we all have here. It really is a great thing.. and it would be a shame for it to change much. So make a small donation and help give back to the community that we all have helped build. :)

I just donated $10E-- does BL automatically get the funds or do I need to email BL the Transaction Receipt ID#?

If an occaisional $10 is all I need to enjoy BL, I do NOT need any more details.

I feel like Pennywise - I don't care WTF happens to my $10 as long as I get to enjoy BL.

If all it takes is a $10 donation to help keep Bluelight running, for me, it's a small price to pay. For lots of us, it is a small price to pay in return for having bluelight. A great community, a great website, that I have personally been visiting since I was just 14 , 15 years old.

If you can donate, DONATE. Nows the time.. and it would be great to help contribute to the cause. If your too overly worried about what your donation might be used for, simply do no donate.

Once again.. it's a donation.. not an obligation..

Just my two cents.

I would donate IF....

I would donate to bluelight IF I would receive some form of recognition for doing so.... such as "contributing member" under my screen name in the forums. That being said maybe its time to move on to another forum, I mean hell Ive been coming here since 2002 and things have gradually just gone down hill from there. These drug forums come and go with the passing of time and if Bluelight goes down 10 more will spring up in its place8)

^Goodbye then

Why should you have to recieve recognition? Thats just silly, theres loads of people who have donated asking nothing in return, because this site has already given them so much. Besides, most likely there will be people who have donated more than you, so why shouldnt they get a title like "Contributed more than Madhatter4" if they want it?

Theres an entire thread to talk about that in, but this one isnt it. If you dont want to support BL, dont, but unless you plan to pay the whole bill, dont *require* them to give you something, because its you who is returning to BL, Bluelight has already done enough for you.

Thizz-y thank you.

Though the incentive is a good idea. Kind of like at childrens hospitals and the bricks with folks names on it.

However, politics are bullshit. I donated a decent chunk of change to BL this year, but I dont expect anyone to treat me any differently nor do I ask. Plus, I know my donations are long over due to the amount of information and friends I have made over the years. If I can help BL stick around for others to experience the similar then that is all the satisfaction I need.

^+1

The BL crew knows how much I've donated and that is enough for me, however I wouldn't mind getting a small tag or something ofcourse. ;)

I originally joined in 2003 under another name which I never posted much with. I have found lots of good information etc. about a lot of things here on BL since then and decided to re-register so I could learn about things like CWEs and Mescaline preparations so I could share my (limited) knowledge later with other people on this site.

Without BlueLight I wouldn't have experienced the bliss of LSA or the crazyness of Salvia, so I donate a small amount of money every month and recently gave answer to the "final push" call, because I don't want this site to disappear in the near future because of hosting costs or legal problems.

Peace o/
