Cats because you have to earn a cats respect. With dogs you feed them & play with them and like you...
But with cats no matter if you feed them & play with they wont always like you....
That is why I choose cats

Dogs. I used to be a cat person and I still do like them. It's cool having a little living animal in the house, they're a lot cleaner and less maintenance. They're also amusing to fuck with and make them spaz out. Just give them some food once a day/ every couple days and they'll feed themselves. You can leave the house for like 3 days and they'll be fine. They shit in their box and don't bark at you if you don't tend to them like a child. When they want attention they'll go get it. If you aren't in the mood and tell them to fuck off, they're fine without you. I always used to say that if I wanted to have something that needed that much attention around my house I'd just have a fucking kid...
I've always liked dogs (with the exception of those little obnoxious yippy ankle biters or those ugly-ass smashed-face looking wrinkly dogs), I just decided they weren't for me. I enjoyed other people's dogs because they are cool but I didn't want my own. BUT after living here with my roommate's dog for almost 2 years, I'm gonna have to get one after I leave. He's so cool, like my new best friend. I love hanging out with him. I wish I was half as cool as that dog thinks I am.
I like both but as of now I'm gonna have to go with dogs.
Although I still can't get over the way they smell, that part sucks.

I don’t see how that is a bad thing. Take care of a dog and get unconditional love. Take care of a cat and it might like you, if you act just right and it's in the right mood. Just my 2 cents.

I see dogs having a personality similar to a " Blondie Bimbo " while cats personality are similar to a " Smart, Clever, Witty Women"... It is just my personal preference I guess... To each his own... My taste in women would be similar as in I like Smart, Clever, Witty Women over some Blondie Bimbo

So not every dog has that typical loyal overly loving characteristic some dogs are smart jerks who know the human is here to serve them. (I happen to own one of those select ones) Unlike cats that have one very snobby boring personality.
I do like cats also however. Dog defends me I defend dog it's a give some get some relationship.

I actually thought that our cousins across the pond would be more dog-people for some reason....

Very wisely....Dogs. I've always had them, and I have one right now that is incredibly smart to the point of it being funny. Like he'll be a dick to my other dogs just to piss them off, and even if he doesn't like a certain food, he will start eating it when the other dog comes around just so that he keeps him from getting it. The other funny thing is that he gets embarassed easily, and really shows it. If he trips on something in front of me he will put his head down, tail between his legs, and have a legitimate embarassed look on his face.
My cat, on the other hand, only comes by when it wants to get pet, and otherwise just lays around. And don't even get me started on that smelly litter box.the only cat i would get would be a serval
otherwise its a dog and my dog of choice is a boxer, then rottweiler, english bulldog, neopolitian mastiff
the neo is the only dog ive never had but dream of having, we got a rott instead

Husky or malamute would be my favorites but, I'm a big fan of rottis, bulldogs and just about any kind of spaniel that I've ever known has been a cool ass dog too. Matter of fact the only dogs that I really don't like are toy breeds.
