dog or girlfirend?

Like previously mentioned, what was she doing putting her face that close to your dogs face? As she isn't the dogs owner, and to the dog, not a pack member, that is just asking for a nervous reaction from the dog...

so if i child is climbing all over a dog and aggravating it, then its the dogs fault??? sorry been through this before so i dont agree with you.

Then that's your responsiblity to keep the child off the dog. I don't need you to agree with me. I've seen small kids climb over dogs who just growl; if you dont promptly remove that child then it will quite rightly get bitten.

Having your face bitten whilst you are sleeping is a different kettle of fish, mate.

I would keep the dog. A pet is not expendable.

I had a friend who once asked me if he could pick one of my dogs up when I had them. I told him, "No she'll get scared and might lightly bite you since she does not know you."

He picked her up, and he learned two lessons.

My cat will sometimes bite me when I'm petting him and he's bitten other relatives of mine; but that's what dogs and cats do when they're overstimulated, afraid, or get hurt.

It's not about the pet being expendable it's about it being dangerous.

The OP said he woke up to his girlfriend saying it'd bit her in the face, suggesting she had been asleep?

If your gf is not even decently good looking, throw her aside man. She is no use to you it seems, and maybe your dog is acting on your anger towards her and snapped at her : p Anyways if your dog is not a rough dog / one that bites in general she might have aggravated it. Bottom line get rid of the bitch, unless she is a 8/10 or above.

Your gf is a bitch. Anybody else who advocates "getting rid" of the dog is a real fucking asshole (llama112). We should send llama112 to the pound for repeatedly giving bad advice to BL'ers on SLR. How would you like it?

Sometimes dogs get annoyed and they bite. Just fuckng deal with it. My dog bit the shit out of me once when I was asleep and rolled over on her. It didn't mean my dog was bad. Fuck all of you animal hatin' assholes.

I advocate getting rid of dangerous dogs. I never said that should be the first step. Maybe it should be taken to some sort of training class to learn not to bite.
The OP obviously has issues with his girlfriend that are completely separate from the dog issue. I think he should break up with her too.
And I personally am far from an animal hater considering I love my pet, I'm a vegetarian, and I donate regularly to the SPCA.
If you have an issue with me, or any of my posts, you can take it up with me (or another mod) in private.

Had dogs all my life, loved EM all, all different in their own way , they pick who they like and who they don't . There more to her story, I would never put my face close to any dog I didn't raise, that's just askin to be bit, awful she got a bite on her face, but she the human , dog a animal. They called mans best friend for reason, a 1000 reasons I believe , my favorite , they always happy to see me, never bitch or whine, no drama, a belly rub & your a good dog and they happy as can be ! As far as any comments on a man having a corgi, the dog don't make the man, compassion for animals no matter the breed says it all ;-)

If a dog bites somebody it needs to be put down no fucking about. Had to go through with this already with a dog of my own, it's the only option. Blame your girlfriend all you want, break up with her if you want, but when the dog "is out of character" again and bites a small child then it'll be put down forcibly.

You say you've owned an animal and been in a similar situation. Well so do/have I, and so have quite a few of my friends, so allow me to suggest (also from 'experience') that this attitude of yours is most certainly not the default stance of most animal owners on this planet. If my dog bit someone, my first response wouldn't be, "Well, shucks, Lucy! Guess we'll have to euthanize you!" I would try to find out what events may have precipitated the bite, what I might do to prevent a similar incident from occurring in the future, etc., keeping euthanasia in the back of my mind and far from my thoughts, which is where it rightly belongs as a recourse of last resort.

What is up with all the sexist stuff on this forum today?!

Oh, you women. Always bitching and moaning about sexism and the patriarchy, blah blah blah. ;)

Maybe my experience is colouring my response, but the fact is if that dog bites somebody else, a small child, whatever, it will be the OP's fault. I don't know his dog, I've never seen it so the OP will do whatever he wants anyway.

Ehh....dogs bite. They have big teeth for a reason! My son's father has a pretty cool dog, but he has nipped a few people, including children, in the past. Granted, it was never as severe a bite as what happened to OP's girlfriend; probably not even enough to do more than bruise. I have no fear of the dog being around my son though. Dogs always bite for a reason; usually from fear or pain.

SOME dogs do have short circuits in their brains. When I was working as a vet assistant in the past we had to euthanize a young pittbull that kept attacking its pittbull housemate. The attacks were vicious enough as to require repeated surgeries. That particular dog was just a bad seed.

OP's dog doesn't necessarily sound like a bad seed.

Corgis are really friendly dogs, but they will bite if provoked. They aren't always good with kids because of it. I just don't see a Corgi being nasty mean, but I guess it depends.

Regardless, he seems pretty much sick of her. lol

Why is everbody assuming their are necessarily problems in the relationship other than this? Why assume that OP didn't like her anyway before this incident occured?

No, it really sometimes just takes one little thing like this and the whole thing is fucked.

I still & always will take relationship advice from my dogs, -) then I'm gonna take my spot on the bed back from them. Yes one may bite me for it, but I knew he was a jerk the day I got EM , that day I named him Archie Bunker , moral of story, jerks need love to .

Cat =^,^=

Hahaha this. Problem solved. Cats will leave you alone and only come to you when you're starting to wonder if they know you exist.

Ok no but seriously.

I understand both sides of the story and think you shouldn't put your girlfriend through any more pain. She's probably being theatrical in a desperate attempt to get you to care for her - nobody likes crying and being emotional and she can probably feel your distance and hostility. It's like a chain reaction/ vicious cycle. You get angry at her for being sad, she becomes sad at your anger. Since you've decided that you prefer your dog's companionship to hers and feel annoyed at her sadness (you don't seem to care that much for her) there is no need to put yourselves through any more pain than necessary.

has the dog ever bitten anyone else? imo i wouldnt keep it. get a cat. you could get a lawsuit against u the next person it bites. i wouldnt risk getting sued for a dog.
