does weed expire

Mold is not poison- I've actually smoked moldy weed and I'm fine, you can eat mold, its all around us so really no worries to smoking moldy weed other than its nasty tasting.

Any good smoker should IMO have a humidor- even a small one to keep their buds in. Once you use a humidor you will wonder how you ever smoked weed that you hadn't kept in your humi. Check out some cigar sites you can buy humidity beads cheap and they keep the humidity at a perfect 65 percent indefinitely.

You can keep bud around for decades like this and it always has the perfect moisture content, smokes awesome, tastes great, and actually develops more crystals over the first few weeks of storage. For the price of an 8th you can set up a humidor and enjoy perfect weed forever.

Sorry, but i cannot in good conscience allow you to spread such misinforming drivel.

see my post in the "mouldy weed" thread. -->

nah, psyghost, i gotta stop this here -
its misinformation.
we are talking microscopic particles here. it only takes a very minute amount to cause a bacterial infection in your lungs.

this is in the same league with smoking mushrooms.
(to anyone who does this - enjoy the "benefits" of inhaling a FUNGUS.
oh and also the only effects are placebo)

you cant simply scrape off the mould that forms on cannabis. just because it is on ganja doesnt mean its safe.
it could be any multitude of fungal species.
spores are in the air.
take a moist piece of peel, exposed to the air, and place it in a container with ganja for TOO LONG and the fungus will start to grow.

smoke that shit, and its just common sense that a vast majority will be carried either -

A= through the smoke drawing through infected plant material (in a joint) and pulling spores with it from the unburned bits of the joint
or
B= through the airflow which would draw in spores from underneath or to the side of burning bud in a pipe or bong.

either way, no matter what -
you will still be inhaling fungal spores.
I, myself personally, have become sick from doing just this.
had some very moist bud i bought, sampled some, noticed mould, didnt know what i just told you, thought id be fine, and got dog sick
hawking up weird looking mucus the next week. during and after smoking i was fine though.
wasnt till a few days of smoking it that i started to get the "effects".

however, i have smoked bud with a much lesser amount of mould on it (like a few tiny specs) and been fine.

from the sounds of things OP, since your bag was closed, and wrapped up and put in the box, i doubt any mould got into your stash.

next time just keep a close eye on things as cannabis buds absorb moisture FAST

please dont post such incessant shit that could lead someone to harm.
it is not what bluelight is about. if you do not understand the science or even medical side of a subject, do not lead people down roads of "oh its ok, totally safe".

the last words of a rockstar before shooting himself in the face were -
"Dont worry, its not loaded, see?"

OK, so you quote another post you made- proving absolutely nothing.

Moldy weed has a possibility of causing problems in people with allergies to mold- some molds in large quantities can cause some symptoms of respiratory problems like coughing etc... but these problems are temporary and the mold types are rare and smoking weed that has had mold scraped off is not going to put many spores into your lungs if any since you are burning the mold killing it anyway. To say that smoking moldy weed is dangerous or fatal is ridiculous- show me one example of a person who died from this it would have been all over the news "deadly pot etc..."

The idea that somehow mold spores will go into your lungs and grow is as ridiculous as saying that a watermelon seed in your stomach will grow into a watermelon. We are absolutely surrounded by mold and breath in mold spores on a daily basis 24/7. Smoking weed that had some mold on it is not going to kill you.

Please don't listen to this terrible advice Bluelighters.

Sure the chances of dropping down dead from smoking mould infected Cannabis once are slim but please remember you are on a HARM REDUCTION website. No one is going to advise the ingestion of mouldy Cannabis here. To think that you are "burning" all of the mould spores is just pure ignorance.

Don't ingest mouldy Cannabis guys. Check out Roger's post in this thread, it is one of the most informative posts in this forum.

thats not what i said at all.
obviously the fungus would not grow inside you into its evolved stages but it can cause bacterial infections.

and it isnt immediately fatal, but it can make you quite sick.

and it doesnt matter if you're burning it, a lot of spores (depending on mould amount) can still pass into the lungs from airflow.

listen, dude -
all im saying is please don't say something is safe and ok when it can and has caused people harm in the past.
ie me when i smoked that mouldy bud (quite a bit of smoking i might add).

while it isnt likely to create any seriously life threatening problems, it still causes problems if you keep it up.
BlueLight is a harm reduction website, and the last thing we'd want is someone going out and doing something because someone said it was ok/safe.

like i said, there are MANY types of airborne fungal/mould species/strains, and any number can
grow on an orange peel (providing the orange wasnt peeled and kept inside a sterile vacuum :P )

Nice post Sega

Quoted because it is an awesome post:
The mold is a microscopic mycelial network. Its much more than just the visible portion-- if there was visible mold in the bag, the whole contents of the bag are infected with mold despite it not being visible in all areas.
