does weed expire

hey everyone i am new here and i was just wondering if weed expires... it sounds stupid but i have this 20 sac which is now like a 7 lol but it is in the container outside behind a bush so my mom doesnt find it... and i have had it for like 2 months and i was wondering if it is still good????
 
Weed doesn't expire - it is a plant. On the otherhand, it is possible for the THC inside of the weed to slowly degrade over time, but there has to be conditions that could degrade it, such as heat or certain liquids. You are keeping your weed in a container, so it should be more than good! Have fun smoking <3
 
It just gets drier and like K-Dazed said less potent. If its drier then the harsher it will smoke.
 
mold..dont smoke mold. I will bet you that bud has mold on it if its just in a bag
 
Depends how dry it was when he bagged it up. My weed usually ends up dry as dust and harsh as hell because i don't smoke it fast enough....
 
Cannabis, being organic plant matter, is of course subject to decomposition. Δ9-THC specifically will degrade into CBN, a compound with little to no significant activity on it's own.
The 4 factors commonly associated with degredation of organic matter is light, heat, moisture, and air(oxygen). Moisture will probably do more to promote mold growth than to promote oxidation of compounds. In an ideal situation(emphasis on ideal), organic compounds(including cannabis buds) would be stored in airtight, opaque containers, stored at absolute zero and filled with either an inert gas such as helium or in a complete vaccum. This is not likely to be achieved by the average stoner, so just keeping your bud in an airtight bag in a dark place should be fine. :)
I do know that CBD can be isomerized into Δ9-THC in cannabis buds with little trouble for someone with experience in the lab, however I'm not sure about CBN into Δ9-THC.
 
well yeah but he wont get it to be airtight, and hes gonna produce heat by sealing off a bag, and theres moisture in the bud already, to some extent.
 
My buddy found a nug that had been wrapped in tin foil that he lost 3 years earlier. We smoked it and neither of us would have ever known it was that old- it didn't even look old other than being dry.

Of course, it's not perfect, but it is better than leaving your buds exposed to the open air. Pack your bud in an airtight, opaque tin with a dessicant inside if you feel it necessary. Or concentrate your bud into hash oil and stick in the freezer. You're only concerned with the cannabinoids anyway ;)
 
when i used to get bricks of low grade shit from mexico, that stuff was just a few days from starting to mold. moldy bud is poison
 
K-Dazed-I hope your herb didn't get wet from the rain and that the container was airtight so your herb didn't get moldy. When I was younger I would keep stuff outside but never for months or weeks at a time just a day or two.

My dad's friend found a dugout and one hitter in his truck and we smoked out of it once and the herb was a few years old at the least and it still got us high but there was lots of CBD in the herb since when I got home I actually could fall asleep and that never happens with potent herb that's been cured and stored correctly.

it will be alot drier - so a few hours before you wanna smoke some put some a few drops of water in the container and close it back up - the moisture should be evenly distributed in the weed -round them rim of whatever it's in works the best so it doesn';t actually touch the buddha.

more CBD, less THC but shouldnt be INSANELY less potent.
 
I have smoked weed that was grown in the 60's, then stored away in a film canister for like 30-40 years. It still got me high :) . It was brown, but very crystal-covered. It was my mothers, given to her by my uncle back in the 60s when he grew. I found it when i was in late highschool/early college.
