Historical Does the world seem different to anyone?

I'm an 80s baby. Growing up with 56k dialup internet and now we have AI. It's almost shocking in a way. I truly believe technological advancement is outpacing genetic human evolution. There is some sort of incongruous relationship I believe.

I think we have reached the stage of human degeneration.

I'm in awe of certain technologies for sure, but that's not really what I'm trying to say. I suppose that does apply to what I'm feeling, but I'm really referencing the strange dichotomy of technology supposedly making us more well connected, but simultaneously less connected in a tangible, physical sense.

Humans hardly interact with eachother irl, let alone go outise in nature. That's what I mean by everything is fake now. Empty. Talking to another human on a phone is not the same thing as talking to someone in person.

I'm not even 40 yet I'm not some mystified boomer.

I dunno, for me it feels like the pandemic sort of shook people out of it and now there's a lot of appetite for IRL interaction.

I think the fakeness is just rampant commercialization of everything.

I remember when it would be OK to just hang out at coffee shop for hours, then rents were through the fucking roof and the shops started to discourage hanging around because they didn't want people taking up room they could use to churn paying customers.

Somebody on the internet said AI singularity will happen in 19 years starting now. Honestly, I got way better search engine responses without AI, AI just repeats the popular things people are talking about. Or they repeat popular opinion. Or they give 3-4 pages of commercial sites trying to monetize me when all I wanted was some information. It's kind of a paradox of AI - it really commercializes and dumbs things down. I'm seeing the artificial part but I'm not seeing much of the intelligence other than work applications.

There was a technological Singularity predicted in the 90 's. It didn't happen.

Cyberpunk was partially about that.

I'm not holding my breath now. Also, 19 years is a convenient period that guarantees that no one to be taken seriously will be in office/ the same job/ under public scrutiny.
