Does the comeup get worse the more experienced you get?

When I first started tripping I wouldn't mind the come up of most any psychedelic substance, no matter what the dose. Now, coming up on nearly anything is a horror show for me and it becomes more and more anxious and uncomfortable the more experienced I am. Is this the case for anyone else?

Come ups are very subjective for me.

I find that it just depends on the setting im in, as well as my mindset.
If im in a comfortable place, with a comfortable mindset, the comeup doesnt bother me at all.

Have you had any anxiety issues with comeups in the past? It could be that the reason you're having issues now is that you're getting into that mindset each time due to not being really comfortable after an unnerving experience.

That's interesting actually. When I first started experimenting with psychedelics I always tripped at night by myself, mostly because I started using recreational drugs before a lot of my friends. I first noticed being anxious when I started tripping with others. I don't trip around strangers or people I don't know well/dislike so these are good friends I'm speaking of. Still, when tripping I always felt some need to "explain myself" to other people even if they're tripping as well. Perhaps fear of miscommunication is where it all started.

It really depends on the setting.

and yes, your problem sounds like it stems from discomfort around others and a perceived need to explain yourself. Don't trip around people you don't know, and remember that they're all also tripping as well, and in just as much of an altered state as you.

I find that a decent cone before dropping (acid at least) makes the come-up OH SO PLEASANT. :)

I can't say for certain since I've only tripped 10 times in total, however the first few times the come up was very anxious and unpleasant, however now I can usually relax and enjoy the come up.

It also depends a lot on which part of the come up you mean, do you mean the part after dosing before you start tripping properly, or do you mean from when you feel it to the peak? Or both?

The initial part for me before I felt it properly was always quite anxious, but not so much any more, as for the stage from feeling it to the peak, that's always the most enjoyable part of the trip for me - after the peak is when it can get annoying as I usually dose at night and by that point I'm often worn out, want to sleep, but can't.

A) If you're not already, start dropping in the morning and enjoying the sunshine during psychedelic come-ups.

B) Don't trip until it's an undeniable certainty that the time to trip has COME!

The missus had a horrible panic attack-ridden come-up the first time we took LSD together. She was fine when she settled in. I was fine, and despite coming up hard myself, her freaking out didn't mess with my feeling of being in controll.

She took it again, in a different setting, was fine. I suppose it does all depend on set, setting, and your expectations. Maybe now that you're expecting a bad coming up experience, you're likely to induce one. Try relaxing with some light sedatives perhaps, if nothing else works.

When i got my nipples pierced, the second one hurt more than the first. Why? I conclude it was because I had no previous sensation to which I could attach the experience of having a nipple pierced. By the time I had the second one pierced, I had a frame of reference about what sensations to expect and found myself flinching before the needle even touched me.

In many ways I think the psychedelic experience is similar. In the beginning, I had to frame of reference to say "This is comeup anxiety" or "My stomach gets queasy on the comeup." As we collect a wider range of experiences, we sometimes subconsciously project our expectations into our future experiences.
i.e 2c-e made me queasy last time --> I expect to be sick during first 2 hours of future experiences = psychosomatic nausea during future experiences.

Nailed it! And dead on about the nipples.

This. I've come to associate mushies with nausea, and despite not having any really bad issues with nausea lately, I tend to have a lot of anxiety about it each time and focus on any little amount I do have, making it a lot worse. Hoping it will get better with more positive experiences (makes sense that it would, i think?).

No, though I find that I have become more aware of them, I pay less attention over all. With experience, I guess I just stopped sitting and going "AM I FEELING IT" and I started simply enjoying myself; I try to direct my energies on my goals and moving forward rather than why I'm tripping/how hard I'm tripping.

Its all about set and setting.

i feel people are to stuck on set and setting with this issue. I have uncomfortable come ups on psychs even in some of the best set and settings. Not sure I can help give a reason why, but as I got older my body doesn't seem to handle the come up on drugs as well. This is includes the come up on acid which is long and slow compared to most tryptamines. I find phenethylamines to very umcomfertable as well one the come up, but that doesn't seem to uncommon. During the peak I usually always (about 95% of the time) I end up feeling unbelievable.

Worse? Should be quite the opposite for the average user. For me, when I feel either acid or shrooms/psilacetin coming up now, it's like an old friend that I'm glad to see again B)

Great advice. For all big indulgences.

Live in the now and accept what's going on without dwelling on it unproductively, no matter what the unpleasant situation. Instead, experience! Know! One person's body load may be another person's body high?

Aye, though I find I barely even remember the physical aspect if I'm on a good mushroom adventure :D
