Does that "lean" stuff give a unique experience compared to other opioids?

Lately I've been thinking of taking some codeine and promethazine to see what all the fuss is about. However, I've also been considering the possibility that it may be as popular as it is just because it's more readily available than stronger opioids such as hydrocodone and oxycodone. I have regular access to oxycodone though, and take it quite often, so would there be any real point to taking codeine or would I just be disappointed? I know the promethazine potentiates the codeine somewhat as well, but could I just get a similar/better effect with oxycodone and diphenhydramine or something? I'm just trying to figure out if I should try codeine just for the hell of it, or if it's a waste of money and I should just stick to oxy and hydro. Thanks for your help in advance guys.

In my opinion straight oxycodone is a more euphoric high than 'lean' which i think is more of a sedating and drowsy feeling. So i personally wont be drinking any 'lean' nor installing gold teeth any time soon.

"Lean" is obviously a slang term, so the contents tend to be kind of dubious.

From my limited knowledge on the subject, said substance is almost always codeine, sometimes hydrocodone mixed with a phenothiazine antihistamine ala Phenergan (Promethazine). However, there are dozens of different preparations of codeine syrups. Some contain guafinesin, paracetamol, other NSAIDS, caffeine or what have you. Given the fact that you must consume several times the recommended dose, all of these peripheral substances are likely to only contribute to discomfort.

Now, when taking opiates. Antihistamines can definitely enhance your experience. Take 100-150 mgs of Diphenhydramine/Hydroxyzine and it will increase your nod as well as the overall numbed, drowsy feeling that many desire. I've read both encyclopedic and medical literature that implies that hydroxyzine can boost potency of opiates by up to 50%. Although, empirically speaking, I think that this is bullshit and it seems that others are starting to come around to that fact,.

You are better off to get hydrocodone/oxycodone/M.S./ or what have you and then titrating your dosage of antihistamine/opiates to reach your desired effects.

In conclusion, I think lean is fucking stupid. Appreciation of souther rap has apparently created this entire culture of lean use and I believe the only reason use/knowledge has exploded is through both news propaganda and the fact that "Cool people do it and I want to be like them." I heard a rather famous rapper died from this combo.

The promethazine content in actual lean syrup was put there to actually discourage abuse. Kinda like using Doxylamine in Meryndol tabs here i guess. I have taken codeine and promethazine together in pill form (you can buy both OTC here) but besides increasing the sedation and helping decrees the itchiness and nausea caused by the codeine it didn't seem to do much else. Morphine with promethazine is much better naturally but going over 50mg's of Promethazine tends to cause way to much sedating for me atleast.

"Lean" is different and IMO less pleasant euphoric opiate than oxy, but, because 5-15% of the codeine is metabolised into morphine (the main, but not only source of codeine's opiate euphoria, and "feel"), and the synergy of codeine particularly with promethazine, ie. 600mg codeine, with 50-100mg promethazine provided me with a very pleasant, euphoric, noddy experience, obviously the cheapness of "lean", it's OTC here hence massively easily to obtain, and the specific synergy, warmth, slight itchyness (largely diminished by the promethazine; without the promethazine it's unpleasant at high doses of codeine because it's too itchy IME) made it preferable to other stronger opiates, which were more expensive and more difficult to obtain.

If you're into to stronger opiates, you may still enjoy a ceiling dose of lean, with approx 600mg codeine, maybe you won't, everyone reacts differently, and prefers one drug and it's sensations more than others, your tolerance will also come into play, if you're shooting high grade dope, or if you take say 40-60mg oxy a couple of times a week, you won't at all or will enjoy/feel the "lean".... it's subjective...

Also you have to find YOUR sweet spot, dose...
