Does taking a higher dose of klonopin make it's effects last longer?

I am trying to maximize my effects from the klonopin before i get it switched to xanax in a month, a lot of people have written reports on how the effects of klonopins have lasted upto a day for them sometimes a little longer. Obviously chemically klonopin has a very high half life, especially in comparison to many other benzos. However when i just take one 0.5, i feel the mild effects maybe for upto 5-6 hours possibly because the dose is too low? On the other hand, i have read people write about how they feel the anxiety relieving aspects even upto 24 hours afterwards? Will taking a slight bit of a larger dose make the effects last longer in terms of anxiety?

Yes, dosing higher on a given drug will make it last longer even if it has the same half life.

500ug dose at 34h(avg) would be at 250ug, at 68h 125ug, 102h 62.5ug and let's say after that point you don't get any effects.

1250ug dose 635ug, 312ug 156ug 78ug

So at that hypothetical threshold (I know, it's kind of low.) you would get an increased duration of effects, but it won't necessarily give you an entire half life worth more as indicates above.

I think the concept of getting a duration of action in the 24 hour range is something that usually happens only with therapeutic use before any tollerance has yet developed.

With even a small tollerance the very lowest dose where any effects are felt raises sharply. (Note this is a very small amount to start with so when said a sharp increase I'm not talking in pills rather what remains after some half lifes go by.)

So to the point, dosing higher usually isn't effective to get longer duration of action. Tollerance rises quickly enough that even on a doubled dose, duration of action will come nothing close to doubling. Tollerance increases quickly and sometimes unpredictably, while elimination hl is a constant linear degradation.

To get the most of benzos, take as little as you need for it to benefit you. Less is more.

^Yeah, I didn't mean to give the impression that it would give a big increase in duration. But rather illustrated the mechanism by which the little increase that there would be comes to be.

yeah pretty much. especially if you take like .5, wait 90mins, and take another .5, you will probably feel it all day. that is what i like about klonopin. that effects are more subtle, but they provide relief throughout hte day

i am with venrak on this one

This.

If in theory it takes you 0.5 milligrams of clonazepam to feel it's effects, when you take 1 milligram you're going to reach below that 0.5 by 2 half-lives. If you take 2 milligrams of clonazepam you're going to reach below that 0.5 by 3 half-lives.

Idk but i took 4 .05's so 2mg, and it didn't feel nowhere like xanax, not in strength, the boost of upbeat confidence while being calm at the same time. It felt more mild, and a bit sloppy. I guess now i remember why i didn't like klonopins, i thought they were evil, i don't even feel extremely sympathetic like i do on xanax. And i'm almost positive that i will not feel any of it's effects tomorrow because i barely do right now and it's only been 3 hours. I'm so perplexed

psh, klonopin will keep you out of WD for 24+ hours. but you have to dose at least twice a day for solid therapeutic effect. people "feeling" it the next day are new users who took too much. twice the doses is better than twice the dose.

IME, there is no exception to this. i recently switched to diazepam. it's still BID.

you might like the way xanax feels more, but it is not going to last longer than clonazepam.
