I have always thought Suboxone was a combo of bupe and naltrexone.

I am always told otherwise but Wikipedia seems to disagree with everyone else. They say nalaxone is just Narcan ued for overdoses.

So please help me here. Thank you

I see. So what is the purpose of naltrexone then if you could say so with very few words?

not 100% sure. someone more experiance with suboxone should come along shortly.

from what I understand they put the nalxone in there so your doctor can say " you cant IV this because of the nalxone, it will send you into withdraw". which is very untrue because buprenorphine has a higher binding affinity than naloxone.

Interesting cause ive been on the fence before on whether or not to slam Suboxone, but never did. Hmmm I'd like to investigate this Naltrexone more but thanks for helping me understand the Nalaxone part!

I'm not seeing how you found trouble finding this information.. it's all pretty clear cut and readily available.

Suboxone contains buprenorphine and naloxone. Naltrexone is a different drug.

Quote from wikipedia on Naloxone. "It is not to be confused with naltrexone, an opioid receptor antagonist with qualitatively different effects, used for dependence treatment rather than emergency overdose treatment."

Naloxone

Naltrexone

You can read about the differences for yourself.

Closing this because it was a clear cut question with a clear cut answer.
