Does smoking cannabis cause COPD?

I see commercials for COPD.

I know people who have it told me how they got it from smoking tobacco sometimes for decades.

Does smoking cannabis cause it to happen, or can it theoretically cause it to happen in someone?

No one really knows:

Firm conclusions cannot be drawn about the association between use of marijuana and COPD based on the limited and inconsistent data available.

But probably not by itself:

Given the consistently reported absence of an association between use of marijuana and abnormal diffusing capacity or signs of macroscopic emphysema, we can be close to concluding that smoking marijuana by itself does not lead to COPD.

However, with tobacco, or I presume other risk factors, in the mix it gets interesting:

concurrent smoking of marijuana and tobacco is associated with a greater likelihood of COPD than smoking only tobacco implies a possible additive effect of the 2 substances on lung health

Think about how many grams of Tobbaco people smoke vs weed. If you smoked like 20 joints a day then maybe!
