Does Mescaline/Peyote release serotonin?

Mescaline binds to the serotonin 5HT2A receptor like LSD and psylocybin mushrooms. But it always says online that it binds AND ACTIVATES these receptors. What does it mean to activate a receptor? It sounds to me like to release like MDMA.

No, it doesn't release serotonin.

I wouldn't take neurosoup too seriously - I think the last I heard of her she was setting someone up for the feds.

Does not. But it does act as a substrate for MAO ( that is different than an inhibitor, dudes) but in high doses might cause a noticeable increase of serotonin in the synapse. Might. But not enough to be too much of a big deal, and that would probably be overshadowed by the uh, other effects of a high dose of mescaline. Good stuff IMO.
