search button didn't work?! its more likely this end than the servers but anyway....
does weed go off? like milk does? ive encountered weed that has such a potent smell that its like vomit... the effects seemed no different but im just making sure

ive also encountered weed that smelt very weak, and i know it was weed and i know it was very old... which further contributes to my as of the moment unknown conclusion!

weed lasts for a very long time- the only thing i think that would make it less potent is as it gets drier the crystals fall off easier- otherwise i seriously doubt it has a "shelf life"

Well shelf life as i understand is the time the drug has until it becomes significantly less potent in which case weed surely does have a "shelf life"

Actualy, as the cannabis drys out more cannaboids become active. So dry weed is more potent than freshly picked crop. However the really old stuff may begin to lose potency, especialy like the person above pointed out, as the plant matter and chemicals seperate.

yeah ive had real old stuff and u can have 5 cones and a couple of joints and still not be as high as if u had 2 normal cones

If fresh weed is not properly stored, it can very easily grow mouldy.
Any mould I have seen has been almost like a brown goo. Don't smoke mouldy weed!
Can weed lose it's potency? You bet. Heat and light are the two biggest factors making your chronic lose it's kick.
Dryer weed is not necessarily more potent than fresh weed. Properly cured weed is usually more potent than fresh weed though.
I don't want to sound like a pot snob, but I've been smoking for 18 years. My weed is stored in glass jars in the freezer, and then it gets moved to the fridge as I need it.
Smaller quantities can be stored for months in the fridge with little or no loss in potency.

basically, the cannibinoids in the plant material should last longer than the plant material itself does.
thusly, as long as the buds are intact, smell non-nasty, and don't show any obvious signs of mold or other decomposition....then it's probably fine and very close to 100% of its original potency..
And yes, it's true.....freshly harvested bud is significantly less potent than properly cured (2-4 weeks dry time) reefer because after harvesting, the plant's metabolism continues to operate and converts several of its chemicals into active cannibinoids in the process.
