Harm Reduction does Lamictal interact negatively with Kratom or alcohol?

I'm considering MAYBE switching from Klonopin to Lamictal (I haven't talked to my psychiatrist and it would take a long time obviously. The two drugs I like to use most are Kratom and alcohol, and I'm most concerned with whether or not it would interact negatively with Kratom.

Honestly, I don't think I trust the AI overview with this kind of stuff because seriously if I ask if there's a negative interaction between almost any 2 drugs or whether or not a certain drug can lead to, say, depression, it ALMOST ALWAYS says yes, but here's their AI overview suggesting that Lamictal and Kratom may cause toxic levels of Lamictal to build up in the system or cause seizures.

Does anyone here have evidence that is CONTRARY to this and does anyone here who takes Kratom or drinks take Lamictal?

"The combination of Lamictal (lamotrigine) and kratom can be dangerous and should be avoided. Kratom can increase the risk of seizures and other neurological side effects, and it may also interact with the liver enzymes that metabolize Lamictal, potentially leading to toxic levels of the medication.
Increased risk of seizures
  • Multiple case studies report that individuals, including those with and without a prior history of seizures, have experienced new or breakthrough seizures after using kratom.
  • One report documents that a patient was seizure-free after starting lamotrigine, but had breakthrough seizures when they relapsed on kratom.
  • The primary risk for seizure appears to be with chronic, high-dose use of kratom, or when it is combined with other substances. However, researchers still recommend that neurologists be aware of kratom's association with seizure risk.
Potential for altered medication levels
  • The liver enzyme responsible for metabolizing Lamictal is sensitive to certain substances.
  • Kratom's primary alkaloids, mitragynine and 7-hydroxymitragynine, are known to inhibit other major drug-metabolizing enzymes.
  • While direct studies on how kratom alkaloids specifically interact with lamotrigine's metabolism are limited, the possibility of a pharmacokinetic interaction cannot be entirely ruled out.
  • For individuals with epilepsy or bipolar disorder, changes to the concentration of lamotrigine in the body can disrupt the drug's effectiveness or increase the risk of adverse side effects.
Additive depressant effects
  • Kratom can have sedative, depressant effects, especially at higher doses, that are similar to opioids.
  • Lamictal and other central nervous system (CNS) depressants should not be used in combination, as this can increase the potency of CNS depression."

Hey buddy, I just saw this, sorry for the late reply. I don't know much about Lamactil, but I take a bunch of meds. Seroquel, Carbamazapine (mood stabilizer but I also had a massive seizure 3 years ago....died twice on the table) so I also take the Carbamazapone to prevent another seizure. It happened when I was doing a brutal supersetting workout, which I still do. Buspar (for anxiety....which I never get much anymore), entresto, hydralazine and metoprolol for my heart/blood pressure. And Xaralto, a blood thinner. I am also well past 60.

I take 5 grams of Kratom 5-6 days a week and have been doing so for over 2 years. I have felt no need whatsoever to increase my dosage. I know some people have had problems with Kratom, but it only enhances my life. Gives me very decent pain relief (if you recall I am a fellow martial artist and life long bodybuilder).

So my 2 cents is that Kratom is a great product. I know some people have abused it, but I have had no problem whatsoever. I probably have a mild addiction, but it is no worse than my addiction to coffee. I am also lucky to have never had a serious opiod addiction (although I drank alcoholically from age 19 to 27) haven't touched da drop since

Thanks bro. This is an entirely different question, but do you know if Kratom has ever been associated with causing bladder issues? And I mean when you're NOT on it. It's sort of embarrassing but fuck it. I'm in my mid 40s and it takes me a lot longer to piss than it used to and I have to piss frequently and I haven't even taken Kratom for like a month but I started to worry about it today.

I know that on OPMS I would often feel like I didn't have to go and then realize I did and once I went to the urologist and they do this thing where they scan your bladder from the outside to see how much urine you are retaining and I had some in there but didn't realize I had to go till they pointed it out, but that's not exactly the same as feeling you have to go and having trouble going and also when NOT on any Kratom.

I just don't want to think I caused myself this problem but taking a lot of Kratom cause I don't know what else it could be and I don't have BPH and my doc has me on a urinary pill that doesn't even fucking work.

I have trouble peeing from an enlarged prostate . I take Finasteride which does shrink it and Alfuzosin which also helps, but only so much.
