Does it really matter how long you keep a blotter in your mouth?

Keeping a blotter under the tongue until it dissolves can be quite annoying, especially when you have to take more than one...
My Hoffmans also have a bitter taste (most likely the ink) that makes the experience of sucking on the blotter all the more unpleasant.

If it doesn't make a difference, it'd be better if I could just swallow after only a few seconds under the tongue. Does it, in your experience?

I really doubt it makes a difference to the strength of the trip. It's absorbed whether it's in your mouth, stomach or through the skin. But if you chew it thoroughly for a few minutes before swallowing, you absorb it through the saliva and it comes on quicker.

The only time holding a blotter in your mouth is necessary is when dosing the 25x-NBOMe compunds, as eating them will destroy the compound and you won't trip.

With LSD, it's more for fun. My girlfriend and I have a ritual of placing it on each others' tongue and holding it for a few mins, just end up swallowing it though.

i tried both keeping it a long time in the mouth and swallowing it pretty quick, couldn't notice any improvement in terms of faster come-up. imo it is unnecessary (with LSD) but ymmv and stuff

I've always been told it's best to keep it under your tongue for like half an hour ... for acid anyway ... and I do that! I've never really thought of if it is actually necessary.

its not necessary imo, but it is fun, and like said before, it is a bit of a ritual thing :) some say it gets absorbed faster sublingually... might be true, but then again the comeup is ok orally too. so if you arent in a hurry and dislike the taste, no need to keep them soaking

under the tongue is better imo as you have big blood vessels that will absorbe the cid - it will all be gone in 10-15 mins as it has a low resistance to heat.

20 minutes is fine.

Spit it out afterward. Paper isn't food. It's full of ink, too. Take it from me, you don't have to swallow the blotter to get the full effect -- I've done it both ways.

More than for fun I get the feeling that if I eat my blotter and swallow it then the comeup can feel a bit heavier physically than when I take it sublingually. I guess the sublingual route resembles a parenteral route more which may even matter for the generally physically light LSD. Maybe it pushes a few buttons on the way from the stomach to the brain and the gut reacts to it... but I don't know, this might only seem like it to me by coincidence. Or perhaps it's the paper and ink that I feel when I eat it, doesn't sit completely right with me but again it could be placebo. I always have a tough time understanding if sensations throughout the body are caused by action in the brain (the proprioception and general body 'feeling' parts) or if the drugs act locally and this is felt by nerve signals going to the brain. I guess both happen, hence my confusion I guess...

Could be that the majority is absorbed in the first 5 minutes but another 5 minutes does help with some significance. After that a lot of people including myself just try to catch the last traces by letting the paper turn to pulp and 'washing' it out in the mouth (soak, strain, repeat?), mostly 'just to be sure'. What I'd find an interesting interpretation of this thread's question is how much is lost on average if you spit out the blotter after 10 minutes instead of swallowing (again 'to be sure').

Also, I wonder whether it's the weird tasting impurities or the ink that can sometimes make me feel slightly ill or physically intoxicated in a typical way. But only slightly. I never had blank paper (WoW / white on white) before but it's in my possession now. Perhaps it will help me answer this question.

Interesting thought that the ink is what causes negative physical sympotoms, but with such small quantities, I doubt it. We could find out from people who've taken liquid LSD whether they get any body load.

I always keep it until dissolve it, finishing the work with fron teeth if its not dissolving. I want to get the most out of it quickly, otherwise the come up is longer with the digestion.
