does hydrocodone relive anxiety?

^ This. Opiates are the greatest anxiolytics on the planet imo. But they do give a lot of people extremely short fuses.

Not to mention that opioids have a lot of unwanted side effects which do not make them a first choice for anxiety. It is easy to get addicted to opioids, especially when using them to self-medicate for anxiety and in the long-run you get so that you will be even more anxious than you were originally if you don't have the opioid. It doesn't solve any problems, just temporarily masks the anxiety in the short-term. I do not recommend using hydrocodone to self-medicate for anxiety if that is what the OP is considering.

yeah dont take opiates to cure anxiety especially if you never took them before

There's a lot of things that relieve anxiety, and you can usually tell just by taking them!

why would you ask this question? You've never had hydrocodone before?

This is one of those borderline trollish questions that makes me wonder......

Hydrocodone CAN relieve anxiety to an extent, but it can also cause opiate rage (I get this on every opioid except morphine for some reason). Also, these anxiolytic effects will soon disappear and you'll be left with nothing but a dependence/addiction with forever climbing doses.

At the moment, the girl I live with has been asking me for my Suboxone(an opioid) just to relieve her mild anxiety....

Opiates, like hydrocodone can absolutely relieve anxiety but are also known for creating physical dependence and withdrawals....

for this reason, I'm sure most of us on BL who have experience with this type of thing would suggest NOT using it to relieve anxiety....

Of course benzodiazepines, which are more commonly prescribed for anxiety, can cause an even worse physical dependence with worse WD symptoms than opiates.....

I personally don't think that benzos are as easy to become dependent on as opiates are, and if you can control yourself and only use them when you're truly having moderate to severe anxiety attacks, I think they can definitely help.... but ideally you don't wanna get involved with either of these classes of drugs(benzos/opiates) because they can defniitely create more problems than they solve in the end for a lot of people....

Marijuana is a strange drug because it can either act as an anxiolytic or it can make you more anxious, socially awkward and paranoid depending on a lot of different things....

It doesn't really produce physical dependence or withdrawal though....

As people have stated...Unless you have crippling anxiety where you can't leave your house or something then I wouldn't bother with opiates or benzo's because you'll end up way worse than before you started using them.

This isnt a troll thread i was just curious. I have severe anxiety and ptsd, but i wasnt planning on using hydrcodone for anxiety, it was justt a question, thx

why not just take an, I dont know, anti anxiety pill?

this is like drinking Robitussin to cure a headache

Only opiate that causes me rage is oxycodone, simply hate that drug. Morphine is the chill pill for me & is great for pain. Hydrocodone does take anxiety way as well.

People say opiates mask the problem.........my response to that is all anti-depressants do the same thing as well so I see no difference.

yes and no, but one should NOT take opiates like hydro for the sole purpose of anxiety. yes the norco will make you relaxed and care-free. sometimes i experience opiate rage but that usuaully only happens with higher doses of oxycodone. hydrocodone is more relaxing and dreamy than oxy so i usually dont get angry. just any opiate in general will cause me to have a lower tolerance to annoyances that are trivial , but seem like a huge problm at the time. making mountains out of molehils. the only opiate that mkes me actually rage is oxy, and that is on the come down or if i take too much.

some people experience anxiety on certain opiates and respond better to some select opiates than other opiates. for example, someone i know, seriously lol - not trying to SWIM, but a friend i know LOATHES subutex (buprenorphine) and dislikes oxycodone, but is a total heroin and dilaudid fiend. personally, i have liked all the opiates i have tried besides tramadol ( i had a grand-mal seizure on tramadol), and i actually like bupre better than hydrocodone or codeine or kratom or even a lower dose of oxy. if i dont have atleast 60mgs of oxy, or 45mgs oxy + kratom then i would rather just have 1mg bupre as i will get higher and feel better on 1mg sub than from swallowing a 30mg roxi on an empty stomach. my other buddy captain heroin, prefers bupre over oxy at any dose. \

picking favorites is common with benzos too. some people hate klonopin, but like xanax, while i like xanax and ambien the least(but will still take them if nothing else is around), love diazepam and temazepam, klonopin is in the middle, and lorazepam is "alright"

Well im very similar to your friend, I hate the stimulating effects of thebaine derived opiates i.e. oxy and bupe. Morphine derivatives ftw!!

But as for your situation if you have PTSD and anxiety see a psychiatrist and a counselor. Medications are a quick fix, counseling and therapy can be a cure. Check out The Dark Side sub-forum for a lot of people who have overcome these things through therapy.

This question has gotten the run-around, so I am going to close it.
