I dont think edgy is the right word to describe what you mean. I get exactly how you describe when high (on any opiate for that matter), I would just say its being irritable. It really shows in me though, as others have said about themselves, when im trying to enjoy my high and someone around me wont shut up or is just being annoying in general. I think this is a pretty common occurance in people who use opiates regularly.
I agree...irritable is a good way to put it.
I get that way when I rail a good quantity of Oxy, I find I'm edgy, and then downright fly-off-the handle rage-y and piseed off when the rush goes away.
But I've noticed something else. At night when I'm lying in bed on a good dose and it's quiet, it the house makes sounds from settling, like abrupt pops or snaps or mouse clicks, etc I get a tiny shock that goes through my whole body
Here's my dumb theory behind it, and is probably totally wrong, but what the heck.
I the amygdala is a part of the brain that is for processing sensory input. Among other things, it deals with processing input about fear and fight or flight type responses. There are opiate receptors in this part of the brain. I think that the receptors get saturated, but a feedback circuit tells the amygdala that something got hurt (because of the saturated receptors), so something is wrong if you're hurt. So it tells the rest of the brain to keep on guard keep the fight or flight option open for any new stimulus that comes through.
that's why you're just fine lying in bed w/ no stimulus, but if someone bugs you you're like "ARRRRGH!"
