My question - that I hope someone with some real knowledge can answer – is, is using the grapefruit juice with my meds DAMAGING my liver? Or is it simply inhibiting enzymes (CYP3A or something similar) so that it will be stronger and last longer? I’ve been doing it for years, so if someone says that it’s actually causing damage then that would stink, but I’ve never been able to find any articles that state it does so. It always states that it is dangerous because more of it (meds) gets into your bloodstream, but I have a high tolerance and I know what my limits are.
I’m only asking if drinking grapefruit juice with oxycodone, hydrocodone, alprazolam, etc is causing DAMAGE to my liver? For example I KNOW if I drink alcohol w my meds that it’s bad for my liver so I don’t do it. Any knowledge about this grapefruit juice is appreciated.
