Does codeine normally constrict ones pupils?

This might a rather pointless thread, but i've been searching the forums and i couldn't find an answer.
The highest dose i've done of codeine is 225mg, maybe 250mg not sure, but either way, it never constricted my pupils. Is this normal?
Why do opiates constrict pupils in the first place?

opiates stimulate the parasympathetic (non flight or fight) part and one of the things influenced by this is pupil size which constricts when the parasympathetic nervous sytem is active. In most cases it doesn't really have a noticable impact on your vision but I would guess (I haven't actually tested this though) that it would make it more difficult to see in the dark.

as an opiate codeine does constrict ones pupils, aka 'pinned puplis'

also a simple google search could have answered your question, try to do some more research before creating a new thread

I did google it, i forgot to ask the main question however, why don't my pupils constrict on codeine?

maybe you are a poor metaboliser of codeine, quite a large percentage of people don't have enough of the enzyme that converts codeine into morphine which gets you high, so unless you take a higher dose and get a real opiate 'high' then your pupils might not noticeably constrict

how strong are the effects you feel off of a 250mg dose of codeine?

Slightly sedating, itchy, an inner warmth and euphoria. It's not a very obvious euphoria though.

if you increased dose to 400mg and had an antihistamine like 25mg doxylamine (for itchiness), your pupils would probably constrict

also do you know how to do CWE? or do you get pills with codeine as the only active ingredient?

That'd be far too much for me. Was just curious about why my pupils didn't constrict to a noticeable level, if at all. Thanks for your help though.

Codeine is pretty weak, IDK what your dose is but it'll take a good amount before you have very noticeable miosis. I bet your pupils are smaller than usual when on the codeine, but you won't notice a small difference like 1 mm smaller than usual. If you measured them when not on the codeine then when on it there will be a difference.

I think that you're a poor metaboliser, or your body is not affected by the activation of the parasympathetic system - but I'm highly doubtful of this. I think as another user has stated, you're most likely not a good converter of codiene to morphine. Do you take stimulants of any kind? They obviously dilate the pupils, and can stop the constriction to such a high level.

You could be a poor metaboliser of codeine, or probably more likely you just didn't take enough to get a particularly strong effect. When I was using codeine and strong opiates regularly I could take 600mg+ of codeine and there was no chance my pupils would pin. Even when I first started taking codeine, 250mg was not really enough for what I considered to be a good high and while I cannot swear that it didn't, I would be surprised if that dose caused my pupils to pin even then.

I am sure if you took a dose that had you close to nodding (assume your tolerance would allow this to happen) you would notice your pupils constricting if you checked a mirror.

No, i just do my caffeine, that's the only stim i've ever done.

I think tolerance may possibly play into this. When I first became addicted to dhc at 14 years old, my eyes were pricked, and my habit was a mere 60mgs per day. When I first started becoming tolerant, and I realised my dose wasn't holding me as it used to, I'd notice my eyes were dilated.

That being said, all opiate drugs should constrict the pupils; it's pretty much a trademark of the the drug group.

Codeine is very weak. Like with stims, opiates need a decent dose before pupils are efffected.

I rekon its the same concept as with stims like meth. Its very common knowledge that stims dilate your pupils and based on this very well known fact many first time stim users might expect dilated pupils after their very first (usually tiny) dose, and will probably be disappointed.

For me at least, pupil dilation takes some effort and only occurs after a large amount has been used, at the point when its clear that norepinephrine has been released from its cage and is making a nuisance of itself (head tingles, vasoconstriction, aggression etc). You will be pretty high at that point. Also as i understand pupil dilation is on stims is directly related to SNS stimulation and not dopamine at all...

I have noticed the same with opiates as well. For both stims and opiates for me personally, when i can actually see clear pupil modification I know that I am very intoxicated. In fact I use my pupil (and penis for stims) status as a reliable indicator as to my state as its not safe or possible to attempt gauge your level of intoxication by the way you "feel" alone.

Although if I'm that fucked up, my eyes are the last thing on my mind....

Except the first time I did pills, that is; I got a look at my saucer sized eyes in the mirror, and couldn't stop staring at my gigantic pupils. I wonder why it happens. I wonder what is is about MDMA that makes the eyes need to take in so much light? I remember things looked different too; softer somehow, and everybody looked beautiful - the ugliest girl in the club would look like a fucking goddess to my piilled- up eyes. Unrelated, but touching felt like sex, almost orgasmic, even; but I never actually could, or wanted to, fuck on E. The touching alone felt like sex, at least to me.

As for opiates, things appeared completely normal to my eyes. I also wonder why opiates constrict the pupils - it's almost as if their hiding, not wanting to give to much away..I know that sounds absurd btw .

Im very new here and this is my first post, so bare with me :Danywayz, I am consirdered high tolerant but have a strict pain doctor whom wont go above 60mg with ms contin dont know if im allowed to say how muchbi take or not but I took these before almost 2 years ago and it dint do nothing and also when I done my breakthru pain meds my eyes constricted but when my tolerance grew higher my eyes stayed normaler or whatever tey was normal, but I had to get back om the ms contin 60's cause money problems and after almost two years and not taking them they seem so different now, my eyes stay constricted even taking them the right way strangely tho that my breakthru pain meds do nothing much as they've been my breakthru pain meds for years on and off. Wow my eyes look all pinpointed and im not high, I never felt anything with this before why now? As for the guy wondering about the codiene, I think it could be tolerance because the same happened to me
Lol i just noticed it said "quick reply" umm sorry
