Does benadryl do this to you too?

I take 4 to 5 25mg Benadryl at a time but I don't take it for delirium, I take it because it gives me a weird and sometimes pleasurable rush. Anyone else notice this?
 
I wouldn't call it a "rush", a rush is usually a term used to describe a very rapid and intense (pleasurable) sensation experienced immediately after use of a drug, which is most likely to happen when one uses a fast-acting route of administration (injecting, smoking, snorting). It is rare to get a rush from oral administration of a drug, so I assume you just meant a "high"?

Taking 100-125mg of diphenhydramine (Benadryl) can definitely cause some weird effects, (like hynogogic visuals, sometimes mild euphoria, confusion, trippy feelings, etc). What makes you think your "weird and sometimes pleasurable" effects are not mild deliriant effects by the way?

Why it does this: Diphenhydramine has the most affinity for histamine receptors, so when you take a low/normal dose you mainly just get the antihistamine effects (sedation, calmness, reduction of allergy symptoms, etc). But diphenhydramine also has other properties: it is an anticholinergic, and also has significant norepinephrine and serotonin reuptake blockade (meaning it increases the levels of serotonin and norepinephrine, like an antidepressant). If you only take a low dose of Benadryl, then you are only getting histamine blockade. If you take a medium dose, then the other more stimulating effects overpower the antihistamine effects. A really high dose can be dangerous.
 
I absolutely hate the feeling Benydral gives me.. even only taking one or two I get very uncomfortable. Could stem however from the one time when I was twelve, me and 2 friends had the genius idea of taking 20 benydral each because we read on the internet it would make us "trip"... It was insane. Pure delirum and psychosis. All three of us ended up in the hospital having to drink that charcoal shit, talking to suicide councilors who thought we tried to off ourselves.. Hah. Maybe that's what put such a bad taste in my mouth for Benydral...
 
i mean i guess, but why don't you just go to the store and buy some alcohol or marijuana instead?
 
Benadryl does absolutely nothing for me.... I've been taking it for years and I mean since before I was ten for allergies. I don't even know why I still take it... it does help my allergies somewhat but not like it use to. I get no rush, buzz or feeling of tiredness from it.
 
as has been said, it is a reuptake inhibitor of serotonin, and thats why you feel peaceful and happy when you take medium to high doses
 
gGet some promethazine and codeine linctus its only few dollars or pounds alltogether and have a nice little headrush for a hour or so .Happy dayz!! :-)

Did that really happen, you guys took 20 each your first time? ahaha thats 400mg you must of been trippin so hard ...
